Job Description:

DTN is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Sales to lead a high-performing team of sellers focused on driving revenue within the Energy (Refined Fuels) sector. This role is a traditional player-coach leadership position responsible for guiding the team to exceed performance targets, nurturing customer relationships, and executing go-to-market strategies in collaboration with marketing and product. The Director will report directly to the VP of Sales and play a pivotal role in shaping growth across a key vertical.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Directly lead, coach, and develop a team of sellers across a defined vertical.

  • Conduct regular 1:1s, pipeline reviews, and performance check-ins to support rep growth and accountability.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and high performance.

Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with company goals and vertical priorities.

  • Identify and drive opportunities for expansion within existing accounts and new market penetration.

  • Align regional/vertical goals with broader GTM plans in partnership with Marketing, Product, and Customer Success.

Forecasting & Reporting

  • Own pipeline forecasting and provide accurate, timely reporting of KPIs and revenue projections to the VP of Sales.

  • Use CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and data to monitor performance, coach reps, and optimise sales processes.

Customer Engagement & Deal Support

  • Join strategic client meetings and presentations to help accelerate complex or high-value deals.

  • Build relationships with key customers and stakeholders to promote retention and long-term growth.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Marketing on campaign alignment, lead generation, and vertical-specific messaging.

  • Provide feedback to Product and Customer Success teams based on market and client insights.

Hiring & Talent Development

  • Help attract, recruit, and retain top sales talent.

  • Support onboarding and ramp plans for new hires and provide career development for high-potential team members.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 7+ years of sales experience, with at least 3 years in a sales leadership role.

  • Proven track record of managing sales teams to exceed quota and drive revenue growth.

  • Strong understanding of consultative selling and complex B2B solution sales.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and drive strategic alignment.

  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and data-driven sales management.

The targeted hiring base pay range for this position is between $93,750 and $125,000. DTN is a pay-for-performance organization, which means there is the opportunity to advance your compensation with performance over time. The actual base pay offered for this position will be dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, training/education, transferable skills, business needs, internal equity and applicable laws. The targeted hiring base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for market-competitive variable pay and benefits.
