Job Summary

The Sales Director will be responsible for identifying, developing, and executing new sales opportunities within the assigned national service providers with the goal of achieving sales volume and profits consistent with company objectives. The Sales Director will contribute to the company's overall strategy development and provide sales and business-planning expertise to the rest of the sales / solutions engineering team, marketing managers, and product management organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build strong, lasting relationships across the target customer organization.  Understand their needs and objectives and leverage this information to deliver exceptional value to the customer.
  • Manage complex sales situations for the broad Adtran portfolio, including Optical Transport, Carrier Ethernet, Broadband, CPE, and Software.
  • Work closely with other members of the sales team, solutions engineering, and product management to formulate plans, initiatives, goals, and objectives for Adran sales activities to rapidly expand market share.
  • Develop and execute both short and long-range sales plans and programs in conjunction with Senior Management, to ensure the profitability and growth of the company's products.
  • Oversee market analysis, monitor competitive activity, and identify customer needs within the service provider market.
  • Identify the strategic business opportunities and potential tactics needed to win new business opportunities.
  • Work with product management to identify and evaluate new opportunities for existing products. Identify and communicate the opportunity for potential new products and solutions for the national service provider markets.
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of Adtran products, current technology, future industry trends, relevant competitive solutions, products, and services.
  • Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Science or related field required.
  • 5+ years of field sales experience calling on service provider accounts.
  • Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. 
  • Must be knowledgeable of Adtran's business philosophy, familiar with Adtran technologies, and understand how Adtran fits into the marketplace.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word required.
  • Extensive travel is required in this position to support Adtran's sales objectives.
Preferred Qualifications (Highly Desirable)
  • Master's Degree Finance, Marketing, Computer Information Science is preferred.
