Anrok is the leading tax automation platform enabling businesses to expand globally without compliance complexity.

As the digital economy has grown 6x over the last decade, software businesses have gone from not worrying about sales tax to needing to monitor exposure, calculate rates, and file returns across 50+ US jurisdictions and many countries worldwide. This creates a critical bottleneck for companies that should be able to transact with customers everywhere.

Anrok eliminates this complexity by connecting with billing and payment systems to automate tax monitoring, calculations, and filing end-to-end. Our unified platform handles the ever-changing maze of tax laws at municipal, state, and federal levels—so companies can focus on growth, not compliance.

Our customers include:

  • 40% of Forbes Top 50 AI companies

  • 20% of Forbes Top 100 Cloud companies

  • Top companies like Notion, Anthropic, and Cursor

We're making compliant digital commerce a reality for companies big and small, backed by over $100M from leading investors including Spark Capital, Sequoia, Index, and Khosla Ventures.

We’re looking for a Sales Tax Specialist who cares about working with customers on simplifying complex problems and building and scaling great processes. You will be involved in helping Anrok execute and build key processes around US & international tax compliance.

In this role, you will
  • Drive engagement between Anrok’s Legal, Finance, and Tax (LFT) and Engineering teams to develop further and build out Anrok’s international indirect tax platform. Specifically:

    • Research and documentation of taxability determinations, tax rates, and compliance requirements

    • Driving the preparation and filing of tax returns for customers

    • Engage with third-party accounting partners on internal research projects and engage them in the platform

  • Engage with Anrok customers to help support them through onboarding and simplifying complex tax questions for them

  • Help to support analysis and direction for ad hoc projects related to international and US taxes

What does a typical week look like?

  • Assist with research on US & International tax matters and regulatory changes

  • Analyze tax implications of new business activities and product features

  • Support Product Tax Code research and validation

  • Assist with registration and compliance research

  • Respond to tax technical questions from internal teams

  • Support customer-facing teams with tax guidance

  • Assist with customer onboarding and activation questions

  • Contribute to knowledge base development

What excites us
  • You have a strong background with 2-5 years of experience in indirect tax (nice to have if international VAT experience), including researching technical issues, as well as the registration and returns processes

  • You have hands-on experience with physical goods indirect tax compliance, not just digital or software-specific tax regimes

  • You enjoy engaging with customers and walking them through tax technical processes in a clear and thoughtful manner

  • You have some exposure to other indirect tax regimes and compliance processes

  • You love solving problems and always push for change and improvement

  • You have an entrepreneurial attitude and passion to build a business from the ground up

  • Strong written and verbal skills paired with a solutions-oriented approach to customers

  • You’re curious and motivated to learn new tools — you've experimented with AI in your work or on your own, you're excited about what's possible, and you've built something with it (an application, a workflow, a creative solution to a real problem) that you can walk us through.

What we offer
  • The equity upside of an early-stage startup with the product-market fit of a later-stage company.

  • Daily lunch and snacks for those working out of our San Francisco office.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance covered 100%.

  • One Medical membership covered, flexible sick benefits, and more.

  • Annual learning and development stipend for books, online courses, and conferences, as well as a curious team to share your learnings with.
