Hi, I’m Donna White, Managing Partner of August Venture Talent, a Los Angeles-based executive search firm that helps startup founders build their leadership and senior professional teams.

As part of increasing the firm’s capabilities and also expanding our Austin and nationwide presence, I am seeking a remote Candidate Success Associate (Resourcer/Recruiter) who will actively seek out and cultivate relationships with targeted candidates in Austin and throughout the U.S., both for existing searches and to build a robust talent pool for future searches.

For some background:  Since its launch in 2009, AVT has served numerous startups and growth companies across the U.S., including some international searches. We are highly attentive to our clients and committed to producing stunning hiring results. Most of our clients return for additional engagements with an average of five searches per client and as many as 12. Growth plans for 2020 were interrupted by COVID-19 but are now being resumed as the country reopens. This is a tremendous opportunity to join an exceptional recruitment firm on the threshold of growth and to shape a role that fits your lifestyle and aspirations.

This role has the potential to be either part-time or full-time and is paid a salary plus performance bonus. There is ample opportunity to increase responsibilities and earnings whether part-time or full-time. New roles will be created as the business grows, including leadership roles. We do not currently offer health benefits, but this is planned for 2021.

Prior recruiting experience is not required. Roles in sales, customer success or marketing could be a good foundation. Success in this role requires a high degree of motivation and disciplined focus, strong curiosity, genuine enjoyment of people, tenacity, perseverance and impeccable integrity. You have refined communication skills, with the ability to listen analytically and attentively. You enjoy interacting with high caliber professionals. You are versatile, so for instance, you can bounce from energetic exploratory conversations with potential candidates to detailed internet research to find new prospects to setting up an email marketing sequence as part of an outreach campaign.   • Plan candidate development campaigns and strategies and identify search criteria in collaboration with Managing Partner
  • Identify potential candidates for assigned searches and to meet strategic candidate development objectives through use of various methods, sources and tools, including online research
  • Conduct outreach campaigns using email, phone and social media to engage interest of potential candidates
  • Engage in introductory calls with candidates to perform initial assessment of fit with criteria for a particular role and to understand their aspirations and priorities
  • Manage ongoing relationships with active candidates and continually cultivate relationships with high potential talent
  • Assist in developing strategies and programs to increase and enhance our talent pool and the level of service we provide to both candidates and clients

Some key requirements:

  • Quiet work-at-home environment from which to conduct professional business including phone and video conversations, with a laptop and high-speed internet connection available for work use (Reimbursement is available for use of personal smartphone and other home office expenses.)
  • Well-rounded familiarity with the business environment, including organizational structures, various functional disciplines, and the marketplace -- experience with the startup ecosystem would be ideal
  • High level of comfort in initiating professional contact including cold calls from time-to-time
  • Demonstrated record of progressive career growth 
  • Professional demeanor and presentation
  • Proclivity toward relentlessly and resourcefully pursuing an objective
  • Customer-centric orientation
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing ability
  • Ability to influence and comfortably engage with senior-level professionals
  • Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail and ability to prioritize
  • Experience with a startup, venture capital (VC) or private equity firm especially desirable
