The work
The SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP) Data Mapping / Functional Consultant is responsible for analyzing legacy HR and payroll data, determining correct source‑to‑target mappings, and validating the transformed data within the SAP ECP environment. This role requires deep functional expertise in SAP HCM/Payroll or Employee Central Payroll, combined with strong analytical and data mapping capabilities.

The consultant will collaborate closely with payroll functional teams, legacy system SMEs, data conversion developers, integration resources, and testing teams to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and alignment with the approved payroll solution design. You will support multiple rounds of data conversion, validate results, troubleshoot discrepancies, and ensure the final ECP payroll dataset is suitable for testing and production use.

Key responsibilities:

Data Mapping & Functional Analysis

  • Analyze legacy HR and payroll data, mapping source fields and values to the appropriate SAP ECP structures
  • Develop, maintain, and document detailed source‑to‑target mapping specifications
  • Collaborate with legacy system SMEs to understand data definitions, business rules, and historical usage
  • Apply SAP HCM/ECP knowledge to determine the correct target structures, fields, values, and relationships
  • Define required transformations, value mappings, defaulting logic, and functional conversion rules
  • Identify data quality issues, gaps, inconsistencies, and items requiring functional or business decisions
  • Ensure mapping rules align with the approved ECP configuration and overall payroll design
  • Maintain full traceability of mapping decisions, assumptions, data rulings, and outstanding issues

Data Conversion & Validation

  • Partner with data conversion developers to translate functional mappings into executable conversion logic
  • Review and validate converted data within SAP ECP during iterative conversion cycles
  • Perform detailed functional validation of employee and payroll data against mapping specifications
  • Analyze data discrepancies and determine root cause (e.g., source data, mapping logic, transformation rule, configuration, or conversion process)
  • Support data reconciliation activities to confirm completeness and accuracy of converted datasets
  • Work closely with payroll functional, technical, conversion, and legacy teams to resolve issues
  • Support data readiness activities for testing, payroll parallel testing, and production cutover
  • Update mapping specifications and conversion rules as new requirements or issues are identified

Here’s what you need:

  • 4+ years of experience with SAP HCM Payroll and/or SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP)
  • Deep understanding of SAP HCM/ECP payroll data structures, fields, and foundational logic
  • Experience supporting data mapping and conversion activities for SAP HCM or SAP ECP implementations
  • Ability to interpret legacy HR/payroll data and determine proper representation within SAP
  • Experience defining data transformations, mapping rules, and conversion requirements
  • Hands‑on experience validating converted data and resolving data discrepancies
  • Understanding of employee/master data dependencies on payroll results

Eligibility requirements:

  • US Citizens only (no dual citizenship)
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
