We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to facilitate and guide an AI data engineering team building scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform. This role requires a deep understanding of Agile methodologies combined with technical fluency in data engineering and ML operations. The ideal candidate will be adept at removing impediments, fostering collaboration, and enabling a high-performing team working on complex, technical initiatives.

What project we have for you

The team is building and evolving data and machine learning pipelines that power critical insights for the business. This environment moves quickly, with multiple streams of work flowing in from product, engineering, and analytics. To keep everything running smoothly, the team relies on a Scrum Master who can guide the group through the rhythm of Agile delivery, keep communication crisp, and help remove friction before it slows momentum.

In this role, you’ll partner closely with the Product Owner, data engineers, ML engineers, and cross-functional technical teams. Each sprint involves shaping priorities, navigating dependencies, and ensuring the team has the clarity and support needed to deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions. You’ll play a central part in strengthening Agile practices, improving operational flow, and creating a space where the team can collaborate, innovate, and continuously improve.

This project blends structured Agile discipline with creative problem solving. It’s a setting where teamwork matters, process maturity is growing, and the work directly influences how fast the organization can turn data into meaningful outcomes.

What you will do

Scrum Facilitation & Team Support
Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, ensuring they are productive, time-boxed, and valuable
Coach the team on self-organization and cross-functional collaboration
Remove impediments and blockers that prevent the team from achieving sprint goals
Shield the team from external interruptions and help maintain focus on sprint commitments
Foster a culture of continuous improvement through effective retrospectives

Stakeholder Management & Communication
Partner with Product Owner to maintain a healthy, prioritized product backlog
Communicate team progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders and leadership
Manage expectations and facilitate transparent communication between technical team and business stakeholders
Coordinate with other Scrum Masters and teams to resolve cross-team dependencies
Present metrics and insights on team performance to leadership

Process Improvement & Team Development
Identify and implement process improvements to increase team efficiency and quality
Track and analyze team metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement
Coach team members on Agile engineering practices relevant to data pipelines
Facilitate knowledge sharing and skill development within the team
Help the team establish and maintain sustainable working agreements and definition of done

Risk Management & Quality
Proactively identify risks and dependencies that could impact sprint or release goals
Work with team to establish quality standards for data pipelines and ML workflows
Ensure proper documentation and knowledge management practices are followed
Support the team in balancing feature delivery with technical excellence and reliability

What you need for this

Core Scrum Knowledge
Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification required
Deep understanding of Scrum framework, roles, events, and artifacts
Experience facilitating all Scrum ceremonies: sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
Proven ability to coach teams and stakeholders on Agile principles and practices
Experience with scaling frameworks (SAFe, LeSS, or Scrum@Scale) is a plus

Agile Tools & Metrics
Expert proficiency with Jira, including backlog management, sprint planning, and reporting
Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence, Miro, or similar platforms
Ability to track and communicate team metrics: velocity, burn-down charts, cycle time, and throughput
Understanding of cumulative flow diagrams and lead time analysis
Experience customizing Agile workflows for technical teams

Technical Domain Knowledge
Data Engineering & Cloud Understanding
Solid understanding of data pipeline concepts, ETL/ELT workflows, and data architecture
Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub)
Basic understanding of machine learning workflows and MLOps practices
Ability to comprehend technical discussions around data quality, performance optimization, and scalability
Understanding of software development lifecycle for data-intensive applications

Development Practices
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Understanding of version control systems (Git) and branching strategies
Familiarity with testing methodologies for data pipelines and infrastructure
Basic understanding of infrastructure-as-code principles
Awareness of technical debt management and refactoring initiatives
