Gem is looking for a Senior Accountant to implement financial systems, own financial reporting and accounting operations, and build out a top-notch accounting team over time. You would be the third accounting hire at Gem and will work closely with the Controller, VP of Finance & Head of Operations. This role is an incredible growth opportunity for aspiring Controllers.
- Accounting operations: accounts payable, payroll & commission processing, expense reports reviews, and general procurement reviews.
- Technical accounting: lease and sublease accounting, internal use software, Share-based compensation, expense reporting
- Close process: preparing journal entries, general ledger reconciliation and flux analysis
- Audit coordination, investor reporting requirements and tax filings
- Optimizing internal financial processes
- Quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Administration of key finance systems, including ERP, AP/AR, Payroll.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to help drive key initiatives & process improvements
- Serve as backup for order-to-cash accounting
- 1-3 years of Big 4 experience strongly preferred
- 1 year of in-house corporate experience required
- 1-2 years of startup accounting experience a plus
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting
- CPA or CPA Eligible a plus
- NetSuite experience is required
- Have a strong sense of ownership in your work, and love the idea of owning systems and processes end-to-end
- Enjoy identifying and solving problems proactively
- Operate well in a fast-moving environment and can juggle multiple work-streams
