Start your adventure with Zip

As a Credit Risk Analyst at Zip, you will play a key role in how we assess, price, and scale consumer credit particularly across Cash Flow Intelligence initiatives and emerging products like Cash Advance. This role is designed for someone who thrives in an autonomous, fast-moving environment and can own problems from definition through execution.

You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Treasury, and Finance to translate data into action, balancing customer-first outcomes with disciplined risk management. Your work will directly inform product launches, credit policy decisions, and monetization strategy.

A core part of this role is communicating complex analytical work with clarity. You will regularly present insights, recommendations, and trade-offs to senior stakeholders across Product, Finance, and Credit, tailoring your message to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Interesting problems you’ll get to solve

  • Develop and iterate on credit underwriting strategies using traditional and alternative data sources, including cash flow data
  • Build and maintain unit economics and valuation models to inform pricing, underwriting, targeting, and capital allocation decisions
  • Own credit policy development and implementation, from analytical rationale through operational rollout
  • Design, execute, and interpret live tests across product features, pricing, and customer acquisition strategies
  • Partner with Treasury, FP&A, Marketing, Engineering, and external stakeholders such as data providers and capital partners to deliver credit initiatives
  • Advance portfolio monitoring and loss forecasting capabilities, including stress testing and forward-looking scenarios
  • Apply AI-assisted analytics and modeling techniques to accelerate insight generation while maintaining explainability and risk discipline
  • Identify opportunities to automate or scale credit decisioning processes without compromising customer outcomes
  • Independently prioritize workstreams across competing initiatives, balancing near-term business needs with long-term portfolio health

What you’ll bring to the team

  • 2-5+ years of experience in a credit risk or analytics role with expert SQL skills within a consumer credit business (e.g., credit cards, installment lending, BNPL, purchase finance, earned wage access)
  • Bachelor’s degree required; preference for quantitative fields such as engineering, mathematics, economics, finance, or related disciplines
  • Advanced hands-on experience and knowledge with data tools such SQL, Python, Excel, R, SAS, PySpark. Experience on data visualization tools like Tableau is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of consumer credit underwriting and credit policy concepts
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with non-technical stakeholders, influencing analytical direction, and translating ambiguous questions into clear, data-driven answers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain insights, assumptions, and limitations to both technical and business audiences.
  • Practical experience using AI-enabled tools or workflows to support analysis, decision-making, or modeling, with a clear understanding of limitations and governance considerations
