About Extend:

Extend is revolutionizing the post-purchase experience for retailers and their customers by providing merchants with AI-driven solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and drive revenue growth. Our comprehensive platform offers automated customer service handling, seamless returns/exchange management, end-to-end automated fulfillment, and product protection and shipping protection alongside Extend's best-in-class fraud detection. By integrating leading-edge technology with exceptional customer service, Extend empowers businesses to build trust and loyalty among consumers while reducing costs and increasing profits.

Today, Extend works with more than 1,000 leading merchant partners across industries, including fashion/apparel, cosmetics, furniture, jewelry, consumer electronics, auto parts, sports and fitness, and much more. Extend is backed by some of the most prominent technology investors in the industry, and our headquarters is in downtown San Francisco.

About the Role:

The Fraud Intelligence team is the analytical core behind Extend’s post-purchase protection platform. We turn signals and transactions from hundreds of millions of users into the insights that decide what we catch, what we stop, and what we let through.

We love uncovering patterns in messy data to catch bad actors, and fraud doesn't stand still. The work moves quickly: a new tactic shows up, you find it in the data, and you help shut it down. You'll work on the front line of how AI is changing fraud review, alongside Fraud Ops and our Machine Learning team, so your analysis turns into material changes, not just a slide.

If you're data-obsessed, impact-driven, and excited by problems at the intersection of analytics and fraud prevention, you'll thrive here. This is a high-ownership role. Your analysis directly protects retailers, builds customer trust, and moves the company's bottom line. You'll also help raise the bar for the team by reviewing code and mentoring junior analysts.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Analyze large-scale behavioral, transactional, and interaction data to uncover signals indicative of fraud and abuse
  • Apply strong business acumen to rapidly identify actionable insights, analyze fraud patterns, and validate hypotheses
  • Respond swiftly to emerging fraud threats by developing monitoring frameworks, dashboards, and mitigation solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Evaluate Fraud Ops' AI review agent, both the quality of its case summaries and the accuracy of its recommended decisions, and turn what you find into prompt, rule, and workflow improvements
  • Partner with the Machine Learning team to translate fraud pattern findings into model feature recommendations, and give feedback on model scoring based on investigation outcomes
  • Participate in design and code reviews, and mentor junior analysts on SQL and analysis best practices

What We’re Looking For:

  • Hands-on, proactive, and analytical professional who is passionate about using data to solve complex, real-world problems
  • 3+ years of experience in fraud analytics, ideally within an e-commerce or retail environment
  • Prior experience in a startup or high-growth environment is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, Physics or related field
  • Strong grasp of core data science and analytics concepts, including statistical analysis, modeling, and data wrangling
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience in Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, etc.)
  • Experience evaluating or tuning automated decisioning systems (LLM-based or rules-based) is a plus
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence outcomes
  • High attention to detail, strong intellectual curiosity, and a deep understanding of user behavior and fraud patterns
  • Empathetic, humble, and collaborative team player
  • Candidates must be located within the continental United States

Expected Pay Range: $125,000 - $145,000 per year salaried*

* The target base salary range for this position is listed above. Individual salaries are determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.

Extend does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.

Life at Extend:

  • Working with a great team from diverse backgrounds in a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Competitive salary based on experience, with full medical and dental & vision benefits.
  • Stock in an early-stage startup growing quickly.
  • Generous, flexible paid time off policy.
  • 401(k) with Financial Guidance from Morgan Stanley.
