This role involves evaluating and executing strategic transactions, conducting financial modeling, due diligence, partnership analysis, and managing special finance projects.
Last Energy seeks a sharp finance professional to support evaluation and execution of strategic transactions and special projects. This role will work on M&A deals, debt offerings, JV agreements, project finance, sales channel partnerships, and other high-impact initiatives alongside our VP of Corporate Development. These bespoke finance-oriented projects will require both modeling expertise and sharp judgment to identify edge-case risks and structure favorable terms.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Build financial models and conduct scenario analysis for M&A, debt financings, JV structures, project finance, and partnerships
- Support evaluation of strategic transactions from initial analysis through closing
- Conduct due diligence and identify contractual risks
- Draft customer proposals, board presentations, investor materials, and government financing applications
- Analyze commercial opportunities across data center, industrial, and utility customer segments
- Partner with engineering and regulatory teams to translate technical complexity into actionable business insights
- Execute special finance projects across the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience, with 2+ of those years in investment banking (M&A, capital markets)
- Post-banking experience in private equity, corporate development, or startup (1-2 years preferred)
- Advanced financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Sharp judgment and attention to detail in identifying risks
- Track record of commitment to seeing projects through to completion
- Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and can manage multiple work streams
- Mission-driven with a genuine interest in energy, power, and infrastructure
- Energetic, relationship-oriented, and adaptable
- Disciplined, thorough, and extremely focused when needed
- Based in or willing to relocate to Austin, Texas
