Summary of Role:

The Senior Attorney IP Law is a critical member of the GF Intellectual Property Law team. This IP attorney will focus primarily on GF’s patent litigation and pre-litigation matters.  Reporting to our lead patent litigation attorney, this position requires an individual with substantial law firm experience litigating patent disputes and familiarity with the semiconductor manufacturing industry and its semiconductor manufacturing process technologies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Proactively drive the strategy and develop the facts in support of GF’s substantive and procedural positions in third party patent assertion matters
  • Negotiate with third party patent owners to resolve where possible litigation and pre-litigation assertions
  • Partner closely with outside counsel to represent GF in such assertions; provide the necessary support to outside counsel to ensure that they can provide the best possible representation of GF and achieve cost effective and efficient successful results for GF
  • Work in close collaboration with members of GF’s engineering, finance, sales, and market analysis teams in collecting and analyzing information relevant to such assertions
  • Advise executive management on status and recommended options for such assertions

Other Responsibilities:

· Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering discipline and J.D. degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years of top-tier law-firm based patent litigation experience.
  • Familiarity with the semiconductor manufacturing industry, semiconductor device structures and the manufacturing process technologies used in our business.
  • Excellent communication skills including legal writing and advocacy, non-legal writing and oral presentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work across various disciplines and multiple geographies, to relate comfortably at all levels within the business, and to collaborate effectively with colleagues inside and outside the Legal department.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or further degree in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or course work or professional experiences in such disciplines.
  • Familiarity with design IP businesses, such as GF’s new MIPS business, including our recently announced acquisition of Synopsys’ ARC processor business.  

Experience in IP transactions or commercial agreements.

Expected Salary Range

$130,000.00 - $246,000.00

The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
