The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer solves complex business issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. You will report to an Associate Director Strategy Advancement.

The Unit Cost Analytics organization's vision is to improve member healthcare through analytics and relevant insights, which empower members, and providers to drive higher quality, lower cost of care, and improved health outcomes. UCA develops and applies actionable analytics and insights, which are integral to business needs, to drive informed provider network strategy.

You will:

  • Work with the ancillary Provider contracting team

  • Will use a consultative approach to collaborate effectively with various customers

  • Act as a key resource and liaison to other functional areas of Humana's business, building productive cross-functional relationships

  • Maintain the existing ancillary provider DataMart and actively work on creating the next generation within the Databricks environment

  • Extract historical data, perform data mining, develop insights to drive strategy

  • Leverage various sources of information including provider DataMart, claims and membership tables

  • Develop tools and automate processes to model financial implications of vendor partnerships

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5+ years of demonstrated healthcare analytical experience

  • 2+ years SQL experience

  • 2+ years of experience in Databricks

  • Advanced experience working with big and complex data sets within large organizations

  • Experience with stakeholder identification, relationship building, and working across the organization on matters of significance to senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree

  • Experience presenting complex concepts to senior leadership

  • SAS, Python, R, or other languages

  • Build dashboards using data visualization tools like PowerBI or similar.

  • Diverse experience, including understanding of healthcare membership, claims, and other data sources used to evaluate cost, use, price, mix, risk adjustment, and other key financial and quality metrics

Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$89,000 - $121,400 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
