Lob was founded in 2013 by technical co-founders with a vision to connect the world one mailbox at a time. Today, we're transforming the way businesses use direct mail and bringing the power of technology to a traditionally manual channel.
Our modern logistics and fulfillment engine helps businesses to build and scale high-quality, personalized direct mail programs without the operational burden. As we grow to meet the evolving needs of our customers and expand our product offerings, we’re building a team to shape the future of direct mail.
Senior Business Development Representative
We’re looking for a Senior Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our Sales team and play a foundational role in building and proving our outbound motion. This is a unique opportunity to be the first and only BDR focused on targeting and developing well-established mail programs.
In this role, you won’t just execute—you’ll help design workflows, establish repeatable processes, and validate what great looks like for outbound prospecting at Lob. Success in year one will position you to scale the function, helping to hire, onboard, and grow a BDR team that delivers a consistent pipeline across our three segments of Account Executives.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys building from the ground up.
As the Senior Business Development Representative, you’ll…
- Promote and market Lob’s solutions through extensive and persistent cold calling, emails, and other communications to prospective clients
- Schedule Initial Prospecting Meetings for the Sales team
- Provide in-depth information to the Sales team to enable productive discovery calls and demos
- Research and evaluate additional leads and prospects through web research
- Meet or exceed assigned outbound prospecting quotas on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
- Work closely with your Account Executives to grow their specific sales verticals
- Support the acquisition of new accounts in partnership with Account Executives
- Help build awareness and momentum for special projects and events as needed
- Maintain all contacts and opportunities, and record all activity and progress in Salesforce
- Contribute to the development and refinement of outbound workflows, messaging, and processes to help prove and scale the BDR motion
What will you bring to this role…
- A strong work ethic and a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mindset
- 2+years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, inside sales, or business development
- A proven track record of clearly articulating product value via phone, email, and video outreach
- A self-starter mentality with a passion for finding creative ways to engage prospects
- The ability to assist in coordinating sales functions, including prospecting and research
- A positive attitude and demonstrated resilience in the face of rejection
- Strong oral and written communication skills, paired with excellent active listening
- The ability to develop rapport, influence others, and build strong working relationships
- A competitive mindset and a drive to be best-in-class
- Demonstrated ability to explain complex concepts clearly to a business audience
- High levels of self-motivation, persistence, and comfort working independently
What makes this role different
- You’ll be the foundational BDR, shaping how outbound is done - not just following a playbook
- You’ll have direct influence on process, tooling, and messaging
- You’ll be positioned to potentially grow into a leadership role, helping scale and mentor a future BDR team
- Your work will directly impact pipeline generation across multiple AE segments
