Develop and maintain privacy-focused protocol and wallet infrastructure in modern C++. Responsibilities include implementing transaction, consensus, and P2P components; integrating cryptography; supporting cross-platform libraries and CLIs; writing tests and fuzzers; optimizing performance; addressing side-channel risks; and documenting auditable designs. The role requires collaboration with cryptographers and protocol researchers on secure, reliable blockchain-related systems.

As a Senior C++ Developer at Ledgeroom, you'll work on the core protocol and wallet infrastructure in modern C++ (C++17/20), with a focus on cryptographic correctness, memory safety, and cross-platform reliability. You'll collaborate closely with our cryptographers and protocol researchers to turn papers into hardened, auditable code.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and implement core protocol components (transaction construction, consensus rules, P2P networking) in modern C++.
  • Integrate and maintain cryptographic primitives (elliptic curve operations, zero-knowledge proof systems, hashing) using well-vetted libraries.
  • Build and maintain Ledgeroom's wallet libraries and CLIs across Linux, macOS, and Windows.
  • Write unit, integration, and fuzz tests; participate in code review and security audits.
  • Profile and optimize hot paths (proof generation/verification, block validation) without sacrificing clarity or safety.
  • Contribute to threat modeling and help eliminate side-channel and timing leaks.
  • Document APIs and design decisions for auditors and external contributors.

What We're Looking For:

  • 4+ years of professional C++ experience (C++14 minimum; C++17/20 preferred).
  • Strong grasp of memory safety, RAII, and undefined behavior pitfalls; familiarity with sanitizers (ASan/UBSan/TSan) and fuzzing (libFuzzer/AFL).
  • Experience with multi-threaded and networked systems.
  • Solid understanding of cryptographic engineering practices (constant-time code, secure key handling) — you don't need to be a cryptographer, but you must respect the discipline.
  • Comfort with CMake, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to read and reason about protocol specifications and academic papers.
  • Strong written communication skills for a remote, async team.

Nice to Have:

  • Prior work on blockchain, consensus, or P2P systems.
  • Experience with libsodium, OpenSSL, or secp256k1-style libraries.
  • Familiarity with zero-knowledge proof systems (Groth16, Bulletproofs) or ring signatures.
  • Rust or Go experience (we have some cross-language tooling).
  • Contributions to open-source security-sensitive projects.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary (range: $140k–$200k USD, depending on experience) plus token allocation.
  • Fully remote, flexible hours, async-first culture.
  • Budget for conferences, courses, and hardware.
  • Meaningful work on privacy infrastructure that matters.

How to Apply:
Send your CV, GitHub profile, and a short note about a piece of C++ code you're proud of (and why) to [email protected]. We especially welcome candidates who can point to prior security-sensitive or open-source work.

Austin has a diverse and thriving tech ecosystem thanks to home-grown companies like Dell and major campuses for IBM, AMD and Apple. The state’s flagship university, the University of Texas at Austin, is known for its engineering school, and the city is known for its annual South by Southwest tech and media conference. Austin’s tech scene spans many verticals, but it’s particularly known for hardware, including semiconductors, as well as AI, biotechnology and cloud computing. And its food and music scene, low taxes and favorable climate has made the city a destination for tech workers from across the country.

Key Facts About Austin Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 180,500; 13.7% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Dell, IBM, AMD, Apple, Alphabet
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, hardware, cloud computing, software, healthtech
  • Funding Landscape: $4.5 billion in VC funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Live Oak Ventures, Austin Ventures, Hinge Capital, Gigafund, KdT Ventures, Next Coast Ventures, Silverton Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Texas, Southwestern University, Texas State University, Center for Complex Quantum Systems, Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences, Texas Advanced Computing Center
