Job Description:

EMPLOYER: Southwest Airlines Co. 

 

JOB TITLE:      Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer 

 

LOCATION:     Dallas, TX (hybrid role, may work from home) 

 

DUTIES:

Design and build enterprise cloud infrastructure automation, pipelines, and cloud capabilities for services on AWS; partner with application, security, and architecture teams to build re-usable and secure cloud infrastructure; evaluate cloud services and architecture to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems; implement automation tools and frameworks for automatic code deployment (CI/CD); work with the development team to deploy and manage tools that support software development life cycle automation, configuration management, and release management; understand technical architecture with automation to support complex delivery across a wide range of digital and enterprise applications; lead the design, development, and evolution of cloud infrastructure; establish and/or follow procedures, standards, and prioritization processes; consult with stakeholders to specify requirements and solutions which address business challenges and opportunities; serve as a subject matter expert in cloud infrastructure, perform design reviews and consult with teams to ensure design best practices; maintain business continuity and disaster recovery processes. 

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electronic Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field, and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or as a Software Engineer, Applications Developer, DevOps Engineer, or in a related/similar position.
  • Experience therein to include 5 years in code development, unit testing, and code review for business applications, developing cloud microservices, legacy back-end services, and AWS Cloud Infrastructure as a Service including Kubernetes, VPC, Lambdas, and API Gateway; 5 years using Java, Python, React, and JavaScript, building containerized solutions using Docker or Podman, and developing CI/CD solutions in GitLab pipelines; and 3 years in developing metrics and observability solutions to measure performance using Grafana, CloudWatch, and Prometheus, and building applications using infrastructure-as-code (IAC) such as Terraform. Hybrid role, ability to work from home.
