Summary of Role:

Global Foundries IT organization is rapidly transforming our Cloud Engineering capabilities We are expanding our Cloud Engineering team and are seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Cloud Solutions Engineer to support ongoing mergers and acquisitions.   The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in AWS infrastructure, cloud networking, cloud security, automation, Infrastructure-as-code, CICD, and low-level system design. This role will work closely with our Integration Management Office, Enterprise Architecture and Cloud Engineering teams to integrate acquisitions into the Global Foundries ecosystem.

 

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and efficient AWS-based infrastructure solutions 

  • Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to align cloud infrastructure with business and technical requirements 

  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation 

  • Automate cloud operations and deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools 

  • Ensure compliance with security and governance standards across cloud environments 

  • Troubleshoot and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency 

  • Contribute to the development of internal cloud standards and best practices 

Other Responsibilities:

Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, preferably in AWS environments and software development 
  • Cloud native development experience, containerized, microservices based, and serverless technologies 

  • Forward thinking approaches regarding integrating AI into development processes 

  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, security principles, and system design 

  • Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) 

  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, ADO Pipelines, or  AWS CodePipeline 

  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation 

  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks and secure cloud architecture 

  • A positive and collaborative mindset 

Skills  

Cloud & Infrastructure Expertise 

  • Deep knowledge of AWS services and architecture 

  • Strong grasp of networking, compute, and storage fundamentals 

  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments is a plus 

 

Software Engineering:  

  • Excellent in programming languages (Python, Java, Go, etc.) 

  • Deep experience in cloud native development  

  • Experience with software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps) 

  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) 

Infrastructure as Code & Automation 

  • Proficiency in Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools 

  • CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance 

  • Automation using Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages 

Security & Compliance 

  • Understanding of IAM, secrets management, and cloud security best practices 

  • Experience with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001 

Collaboration & Problem Solving 

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with architects, engineers, and security teams 

  • Strong documentation and presentation skills 

  • A passion to continuously learn and solve hard problems 

Expected Salary Range

$124,000.00 - $208,000.00

The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
