ABOUT THE ROLE

We are hiring a Senior Content Writer & Editor to lead the writing and execution of our most important editorial projects. Working closely with our Content Lead and subject-matter experts across the company, you'll own the ideation, research, writing, and promotional copy behind our flagship reports, guides, essays, and video scripts. This is a hands-on creative and editorial role focused on depth and quality. It's for someone who wants to create great work and is up for the challenge of writing for a smart, skeptical audience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Writing & Editorial Execution:

  • Research, write, and edit content across formats, including data-backed industry reports (like our State of Contracts report), guides, lead magnets, essays, articles, and video scripts.

Ideation & Publishing Cadence:

  • Plan and manage a publishing calendar across reports, guides, and articles, balancing timely commentary on legal AI news with deeper, research-led projects.

  • Use data to see what resonates and adjust direction as we learn what works.

Packaging & Promotion:

  • Treat packaging and distribution as part of the writing process, making sure every piece has a strong hook and angle.

  • Write the surrounding campaign copy for your projects, including marketing emails, social posts, and landing page copy.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • You are an exceptional writer and self-editor with sharp editorial taste. You know the difference between clean, generic prose and writing that holds a reader's attention, and you hold every piece to that higher standard.

  • You understand lawyers and the day-to-day of legal work, allowing you to spot the nuances, pain points, and insights that resonate with legal teams.

  • You have experience in B2B SaaS content, journalism, or copywriting, and can point to published work that drove engagement.

  • You are adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced, data-driven environment where priorities can shift as we test ideas and follow what works.

  • You think like a marketer and an editor at the same time. You care as much about how a piece is packaged, positioned, and distributed as you do about the sentences on the page.

  • You can own projects end-to-end, from initial research to drafting to writing the campaign copy to launch it.

NICE TO HAVES
  • Direct experience in transactional or corporate law, with knowledge of contract drafting, redlining, and commercial legal work.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced tech startup environment.

  • You are a writer first, but also a dynamic and adaptable generalist. You enjoy working across different formats, projects, and tools.

WHY JOIN SPELLBOOK?
  • Embrace autonomy and accountability in a flexible work environment; we focus on outcomes and empower you to determine how to get the job done

  • Access our company-paid group benefits for you and your family, with $1,000 towards mental health support

  • Disconnect during our holiday closure and take advantage of our generous time off policies throughout the year

  • Enjoy monthly paid meals, an annual wellness allowance to support your well-being and parental leave top-ups as your family grows

  • Secure your stake in our success; you’ll receive competitive stock option grants as a pivotal early employee

Use of Artificial Intelligence in Recruitment

Spellbook uses artificial intelligence (AI) responsibly to support administrative and efficiency-focused aspects of our recruitment process. This includes activities such as drafting job descriptions, generating interview questions, note-taking and recordings, and supporting sourcing and scheduling workflows. All candidate evaluations, interviews, and hiring decisions are made by members of the Spellbook team. While AI tools may assist with screening and assessment, they do not replace human judgment in selection decisions. We are committed to upholding principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability in all hiring activities. Spellbook regularly reviews its recruitment practices to mitigate bias and to ensure alignment with applicable laws and evolving best practices.

Our Compensation Philosophy

Spellbook uses industry benchmark data to establish compensation bands for all roles. The salary range listed for a position reflects the expected total wage range for the role—including base salary and on-target commissions, where applicable—and may span multiple career levels. Final compensation is determined during the interview process based on factors such as experience, skills, scope, and role level. In addition to base salary and applicable commissions, total rewards may include equity, health and wellness benefits, and other company programs. Full details will be shared during the interview process.
