Location: MA / Austin TX / MD
Team: Product & Engineering
Employment Type: Full-Time, Remote

About VulnCheck
Exploitation prevention is only as strong as the intelligence driving those efforts, and most of the industry is still running on intelligence that lacks exploit context. VulnCheck, The Exploit Intelligence Company, delivers structured exploit intelligence on what is actively weaponized in the wild, purpose-built for the data lakes, ETL pipelines, automation, and AI and LLM workflows your infrastructure already runs on, raising the capability of everything it powers.

About the Role
We're looking for a Software Engineer, Rapid Response Assignment - who combines strong engineering skills with a deep commitment to customer outcomes. In this hands-on role, you'll make sure our customers stay unblocked and that the issues they raise are resolved quickly, accurately, and for good.

You'll diagnose and fix complex problems across our platform, deliver improvements that directly address customer needs, and work closely with our Customer Success team to turn technical challenges into great outcomes. As part of a global engineering team providing continuous coverage, you'll bring engineering rigor to the work that customers feel most directly. This is a 100% remote role, but we're primarily looking for candidates based in Massachusetts, Maryland, or Greater Austin, TX.

What You'll Do

  • Resolve customer-reported issues quickly and thoroughly, from investigation through to a durable fix
  • Diagnose complex, ambiguous problems across our services and data pipelines, tracing them to root cause
  • Deliver high-quality engineering work that improves the platform and directly addresses customer needs
  • Partner closely with Customer Success to align on technical solutions and outcomes
  • Maintain and improve backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code and uphold engineering best practices
  • Improve system reliability, performance, and observability across the platform
  • Participate in incident response and on-call rotations

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems as a software engineer
  • Experience in cybersecurity, vulnerability management, or threat intelligence
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages (Python, Go, Java, etc.)
  • Strong diagnostic and debugging skills, with a proven ability to root-cause complex production issues
  • Curiosity and persistence — a drive to understand problems fully and see them through to resolution
  • A customer-obsessed mindset: you take pride in delivering accurate, high-quality solutions that delight customers
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and cross-functional teams
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices, APIs, system design, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
  • Experience working with data pipelines, ETL systems, or high-volume data processing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a customer reliability, sustaining, support, or escalation engineering role
  • Familiarity with CVE, NVD, KEV, or exploit intelligence datasets
  • Experience with streaming systems or real-time data processing
  • Background in high-growth or startup environments
