This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing data models for the organization. The Sr Data Modeler will partner with business analysts, engineers, architects, and data governance to ensure our data models meet the needs of our business and align with governance requirements.RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop, maintain, and optimize conceptual, logical, and physical data models in support of initiatives and new data offerings.
- Create and document logical and physical data models including data dictionaries, metadata, and entity-relationship diagrams. Modeling scope includes OLTP and OLAP
- Drive internal customer needs into meaningful effective data models in collaboration with Data Architects, Developers, and Analysts.
- Enforce data modeling standards, guidelines, and best practices. Partner with Data Governance when new standards and guidelines are to be developed.
- Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Prepare documentation for data models and definitions.
- Communicate complex data and data modeling concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Support the design and implementation of database schemas/structures, and database performance tuning/optimization.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Business or equivalent work or educational experience required. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with physical/logical data modeling and database design for both relational and non-relational databases required.
- Experience modeling for transaction processing and analytics preferred.
- Experience in the banking or financial services industry preferred.
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP preferred.
- Experience with Agile or other project management methodologies preferred.
- Expert knowledge of data modeling and metadata management tools such as Erwin or ER/Studio preferred.
- Knowledge of the Banking Industry Architecture Network (BIAN) information architecture preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into effective data models required.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to document and present data models effectively required.
