Reporting & Analytics

Incline Insurance Group is seeking a hands-on, technically seasoned Senior Database Administrator to own the design, performance, security, and operational excellence of Incline’s cloud-based data platforms. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and governance of enterprise data systems that support analytics, reporting, and AI-driven decision-making across the organization.

 

The Senior Database Administrator will partner closely with Data Engineering, Analytics, Security, and business stakeholders to deliver high-performing, trusted data platforms that enable actuarial, finance, underwriting, and executive leadership teams.

About the Reporting & Analytics Team

The Reporting & Analytics team serves as the enterprise data and analytics backbone for Incline. The team is responsible for transforming data received from Incline’s Managing General Agent (MGA) partners into a unified enterprise data model and delivering trusted, decision-ready analytics across the organization.

 

The team partners closely with Technology, Security, Actuarial, Finance, and Underwriting to support Incline’s modern, cloud-based data ecosystem. The Senior Database Administrator plays a leadership role in defining database architecture, ensuring operational excellence, and establishing best practices across Incline’s enterprise data platforms.

 

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will report to the Manager of Data and Analytics and serve as a subject-matter expert in cloud data platforms, database architecture, and enterprise data operations. You will lead initiatives that improve data quality, scalability, and accessibility while enabling faster, more informed decision-making across the business.

 

Data Architecture & Transformation Leadership: Lead the ingestion, validation, cleansing, and transformation of complex insurance datasets, including policy, claims, and billing data.  Design, implement, and optimize scalable data pipelines aligned with Incline’s unified enterprise data model.  Continuously improve performance, reliability, and scalability of the enterprise data platform.


Business Partnership & Insurance Analytics: Partner with actuarial, finance, underwriting, and technology teams to support strategic decision-making.  Translate business questions into technical data solutions and analytical frameworks.  Ensure data models accurately reflect insurance business processes and operational realities.

 

Advanced Analytics & Insight Enablement: Perform exploratory and advanced data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.  Support pricing, reserving, underwriting, and portfolio performance analysis through reliable data access and structure.  Communicate insights and technical concepts clearly to both technical and executive audiences.


Database Design & Data Platform Operations: Design and optimize database schemas, storage structures, indexing strategies, and performance tuning approaches.  Align external MGA data structures with Incline’s internal data architecture.  Maintain high availability, security, and operational reliability of cloud-based database systems.


Dashboard Development & Reporting Enablement: Support and guide the development of executive-level dashboards and reporting solutions.  Ensure reporting platforms are scalable, intuitive, and performant.  Partner with analytics teams to continuously improve reporting based on stakeholder feedback.


Data Governance, Quality & Mentorship: Establish and enforce enterprise data quality standards and governance practices.  Maintain clear documentation and audit-ready data processes.  Mentor data analysts and engineers on best practices in database design, performance optimization, and analytics enablement.


What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a senior-level database and data platform professional who combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen.

 

Experience: 5+ years of experience managing cloud-based database platforms, data warehouses, or analytics systems.  Strong experience with AWS-based technologies such as Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, or similar platforms.  Prior experience in insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries strongly preferred.


Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.


Technical Proficiency: Advanced SQL proficiency.  Experience with data transformation tools such as DBT, Matillion, Python, or similar platforms.  Strong understanding of data modeling, database architecture, data warehousing, and data governance/security concepts.  Experience supporting production-grade analytics and reporting environments.


Core Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  Ability to independently lead complex technical initiatives end-to-end.  Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage with executive stakeholders.  Proven ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.


Location

This role is based in Austin, TX and operates within a hybrid work model.
