LI-COR is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to help architect, deploy, secure, and operate our global cloud-based IoT platforms for environmental data management. This role will support both our global infrastructure and our expanding cloud operations in China. The position will focus on high-availability cloud operations, Kubernetes-based microservice infrastructure, security operations, observability, automation, and regulatory/compliance support for all cloud systems.
This is a remote role. We are open to candidates located within the United States or China.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision, configure, secure, and administer customer-facing cloud infrastructure supporting all cloud platforms.
- Design and execute deployment plans for software releases across development, staging, and production environments.
- Participate in DevOps on-call rotation and incident response activities.
- Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Manage observability and monitoring systems using Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch, and related tooling.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
- Administer identity and access management, secrets management, and role-based access controls.
- Oversee cloud backup, redundancy, disaster recovery, and failover testing processes.
- Support cybersecurity initiatives including vulnerability remediation, patch management, log monitoring, and security posture assessments.
- Collaborate closely with Software Engineering, Product Management, IT, and Security teams.
- Support cloud deployments and operational compliance activities within the US and China.
- Work with AWS and Alibaba Cloud infrastructure and services for US and China-based deployments.
- Help design and maintain secure remote DevOps operational models for systems hosted in US and China.
- Support operational requirements related to MLPS, PIPL, cross-border data transfer controls, 21-CFR Part 11audit logging, and cloud security architecture.
- Coordinate with legal, regulatory, and infrastructure partners regarding cloud operations and compliance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues across distributed cloud infrastructure environments.
- Develop operational tooling, scripts, dashboards, and infrastructure automation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure engineering, or SRE-related roles.
- Strong experience operating production systems in AWS and Alibaba cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Linux administration, and CI/CD systems.
- Experience with cloud monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch, or New Relic.
- Experience supporting high-availability microservice-based cloud platforms.
- Strong scripting and automation experience using Python, shell scripting, or similar technologies.
- Experience managing MySQL environments.
- Experience supporting cloud infrastructure security, IAM, and vulnerability management.
- Previous experience working with cloud systems operating in China.
- Understanding of global and China cloud regulatory and operational requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating regulated or compliance-sensitive cloud environments.
- Experience supporting global SaaS or IoT cloud platforms.
- Experience with secure hybrid cloud architectures and regional cloud isolation models.
- Experience with AWS and Alibaba Cloud networking, VPC design, and infrastructure hardening.
- Experience with Stripe as a billing system.
- Experience with security tooling such as SonarQube, vulnerability scanners, SIEM systems, or endpoint monitoring.
- Familiarity with Snowflake or large-scale cloud data platforms.
- Experience supporting international DevOps teams and distributed operations.
