The Principal Business Intelligence and Automation Lead owns the business-facing capability that turns operational data into trusted, actionable decisions across HealthEdge. This is an enterprise capability, not a reporting function: the role sets the agenda for what gets measured, what gets automated, and how the business and Technology work together to deliver it.

The person in this role operates as a strategic partner to Operations, Product, and Technology leadership — translating business priorities into data and automation requirements, and shaping HealthEdge's data strategy from the operational vantage point. The role does not own the underlying data platform, architecture, or engineering; that ownership sits with the Data & Analytics Platform team in Technology. The Principal Business Intelligence and Automation Lead owns the demand side of the equation: priorities, requirements, and business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set enterprise priorities for operational reporting and dashboards, ensuring the business consistently has trusted, decision-ready information.
  • Lead business intelligence and analytics efforts that surface insight — not just data — for Operations, Product, and executive stakeholders.
  • Identify and drive business process automation opportunities, including applying AI where it measurably improves speed, accuracy, or cost.
  • Translate business needs into clear data and technology requirements that the Platform team and other Technology partners can build against.
  • Influence HealthEdge's long-term data strategy by bringing operational priorities and real-world business context into platform and architecture planning.
  • Act as the primary business-side partner to the Data & Analytics Platform team, Product, and Technology — owning requirements definition, prioritization, and business validation of delivered solutions.
  • Build and maintain a prioritized roadmap of reporting, analytics, and automation initiatives based on operational impact.
  • Represent the voice of the business in Technology governance and planning forums where data and automation investment decisions are made.

Ownership & Partnership Boundaries:

This capability is deliberately split to keep accountability clear as it scales:

  • Principal Business Intelligence and Automation Lead owns: reporting and automation priorities, business requirements, opportunity identification, business-side data strategy input, and partnership with Product and Technology to validate that delivered solutions meet business needs.
  • Data & Analytics Platform team (Technology) owns: the underlying data platform, architecture, engineering, and technical roadmap.

Neither side substitutes for the other. The Platform team is not accountable for deciding what the business should measure or automate next; the Principal Business Intelligence and Automation Lead is not accountable for how the platform is engineered. The two roles are expected to operate as tightly coupled partners with distinct, non-overlapping accountability.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Operations, Product, and Technology leaders treat this role as the natural first call for "what should we be measuring or automating next."
  • Reporting and automation priorities are demonstrably tied to operational decisions and outcomes, not just delivered dashboards or scripts.
  • Business requirements handed to the Platform team are clear enough to build against with minimal rework.
  • The role has a visible seat at data strategy planning conversations, with operational priorities reflected in the resulting roadmap.

Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in business intelligence, analytics, or business process transformation, including significant time operating at an enterprise or cross-functional scope.
  • Demonstrated track record of setting data and automation priorities at an organizational level, not just executing against requirements set by others.
  • Proven ability to translate ambiguous, cross-functional business problems into clear, buildable data and automation requirements.
  • Experience operating as a senior peer to a Technology or Data Platform organization — shaping data strategy and priorities without owning engineering or architecture directly.
  • Strong record of identifying and delivering business process automation at scale, including applying AI/ML in operational contexts.
  • Executive-level communication and influence skills; credible setting and defending priorities directly with Operations, Product, and Technology leadership.
  • Healthcare technology, SaaS, or BPaaS industry experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience standing up or scaling an enterprise BI/analytics function from a business-owned (rather than Technology-owned) position.
  • Familiarity with modern data platform concepts (cloud data warehousing, self-service BI tooling, workflow automation platforms) sufficient to write strong requirements, without engineering-level depth.
  • Experience operating in a post-merger or integration environment where operating models and ownership boundaries are still being established.

Geographic Responsibility:  Remote, US

Type of Employment: Full-time, permanent

FLSA Classification (USA Only): Exempt

Work Environment: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • May require travel dependent on company needs.
