KBR is seeking a Senior Director of Capture to serve as a senior growth leader within KBR’s Business Development organization, focused on large, complex, mission-critical Federal Civilian and Space-related programs. This role is designed for a proven capture executive with demonstrated success shaping, capturing, and winning $100M–$1B+ programs, and leading enterprise-level growth strategies across multiple agencies and contract vehicles.

The Senior Director of Capture will operate as both a hands-on capture leader and strategic growth partner, responsible for building and executing winning capture strategies while helping shape KBR’s long-term growth priorities.

Primary work location is Fulton, MD, with flexibility for remote work based on location.
Expected travel: 20–40%, primarily to customer and partner locations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Capture & Growth Leadership

  • Serve as Capture Executive for KBR’s largest, most strategic pursuits, including prime, full-and-open, single-award opportunities valued at $100M–$1B+
  • Own and lead the end-to-end capture lifecycle across multiple simultaneous pursuits, from early shaping through proposal submission and award
  • Translate enterprise and BU growth strategies into actionable capture plans, win themes, and discriminators
  • Shape opportunities early by influencing customer requirements, acquisition strategies, and contracting approaches

Pipeline Development & Opportunity Shaping

  • Lead development and execution of a robust, multi-year pipeline, including qualification, prioritization, and win-probability assessment
  • Drive disciplined opportunity qualification and win-ability assessments aligned to KBR’s strategic growth objectives
  • Guide capture teams in understanding customer missions, pain points, funding profiles, and decision drivers

Capture Execution Excellence

  • Develop and execute comprehensive capture plans, including customer engagement strategies, competitive assessments, teaming strategies, and price-to-win
  • Lead capture governance activities including gate reviews, Black Hat, Blue Team, solutioning sessions, and proposal reviews
  • Oversee development of RFIs, white papers, CSOs, OTAs, and full proposals across traditional and alternative acquisition vehicles
  • Ensure disciplined application of KBR capture best practices, tools, and artifacts

Leadership & Executive Engagement

  • Brief capture status, risks, and recommendations to senior KBR leadership at key milestones
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executives on growth strategy, customer positioning, and investment decisions
  • Mentor and develop capture managers and growth professionals across the organization
  • Collaborate closely with operations, finance, contracts, pricing, and technical leadership to deliver integrated, executable solutions

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience); advanced degree strongly preferred
  • 20+ years of experience across capture management, business development, operations, or strategy roles within government services
  • Demonstrated success winning large, prime, single-award contracts valued at $200M+, including services, mission support, engineering, or technology programs
  • Proven leadership of enterprise-scale pipelines ($500M–$1B+) and complex, multi-agency pursuits
  • Deep understanding of Federal Civilian agencies, including space, science, infrastructure, defense-adjacent, and mission support organizations
  • Experience operating within a mature, industry-leading capture organization
  • Strong financial acumen, including BOE/LOE development, indirect rate considerations, and margin management
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with senior government officials, industry executives, and internal leadership

Desired Experience & Attributes

  • Experience supporting civil space, science, engineering, facilities, cyber, or mission operations programs
  • Background in both services delivery and enterprise growth strategy
  • Proven ability to lead transformation, integration, or modernization initiatives
  • Experience with alternative acquisition methods (OTA, CSO, hybrid vehicles)
  • Executive presence with the ability to operate credibly at board, C-suite, and customer leadership levels
  • Track record of building and leading high-performing, cross-functional teams

Why This Role Matters
