About the job

Twilio is seeking a Senior Director of Product Management to lead the strategy, roadmap, and team behind our Commerce Platform, the engine that powers developer onboarding, usage-based billing, subscriptions, and upgrades at global scale.
The right candidate is a visionary product leader who thrives at the intersection of commerce, growth, and customer experience. You’ll set the long-term strategy for Twilio’s Commerce Platform, build a world-class PM team, and partner closely with engineering and cross-functional leaders to deliver innovative solutions that fuel Twilio’s growth. 


Responsibilities

  • Commerce Expertise: Deep understanding of commerce systems, including catalog management, purchasing, billing, invoicing, revenue recognition and tax compliance. 
  • Product and Platform Ownership: Define Commerce platform and product vision and strategy for a global customer base, a multi product suite of products and services. Anticipate emerging business and technology trends to position the platform as a strategic differentiator and foundation for growth. 
  • Roadmap Management: Own end to end roadmap management of the commerce roadmap in collaboration with peer teams across the company transforming strategic objectives to actionable deliverables. Continuously track progress, adjust manage scope, and communicate status to stakeholders and senior leadership.  
  • Cross Functional Partnership: Forge strong partnerships across Engineering, GTM, Legal, Security and other other Product organizations to align on Commerce platform and product strategy, governance and priorities. Drive a unified execution plan to ensure a consistent, reliable and compliant global customer and business outcomes.
  • Team Leadership: Build and develop an impactful PM team that is customer focused, outcome oriented and curious about business models and emerging technology solutions. Provide strategic direction, mentorship and growth path to strengthen product excellence and execution. 
  • Data Aware Decision Making: Embed data driven thinking and decision making to drive customer, business outcomes and system reliability and performance. Use analytics and insights to guide cross functional decision alignment, prioritization and trade-offs. Develop a culture of experimentation and learning to help in continuous improvement.

*Required:

  • 12+ years of product management experience building large scale cloud services platforms; specifically building cloud native commerce systems for usage-based and metered products at a very large scale
  • 10+ years people management experience with demonstrated ability to encourage/lead/recruit/retain successful product management teams
  • Proven track record of results including establishing ambitious goals, achieving /over-achieving those goals and taking overall responsibility for customer and business outcomes
  • A track record of driving companies through ground-breaking change with the ability to see the big-picture while also being hands-on in the details
  • Executive presence with strong communication skills, and ability to communicate business value and product features/benefits and influence at the highest levels to drive change
  • Data-driven, outcomes oriented and a problem solver
  • Customer obsessed - passionate about the customer journey and the customer experience
  • Experience building large scale, mission critical software services like a Commerce system or similar
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, or equivalent experience

Travel:

  • We prioritize connection and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other. For this role, approximately 15% travel is anticipated to help you connect in-person in a meaningful way.

Location

This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA.

Compensation

*Please note this role is open to candidates outside of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington D.C., and Washington State. The information below is provided for candidates hired in those locations only.


The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

  • Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C. : $223,300.00 - $279,200.00.
  • Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $236,500.00 - $295,600.00.
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $262,700.00 - $328,400.00.
  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
