The Opportunity:
As a Senior Director in Huron’s Commercial Supply Chain Consulting practice, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our clients, leading complex supply chain transformation initiatives that improve reliability, resilience, and operational performance. You will partner closely with client executives and internal stakeholders to shape strategy, design future-state capabilities, and oversee implementation across people, process, data, and technology.
This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage large-scale transformation programs, and help global organizations modernize supply chain capabilities. Senior Directors at Huron are hands-on leaders who build lasting client relationships while delivering results that show up in operations and financial performance.
Strategic & Advisory Leadership
Lead end-to-end supply chain transformation efforts for Consumer Goods, Retail Distribution, Industrial and Automotive manufacturers, Energy & Utilities (or a subset of these industries) across sourcing and procurement of products, E2E planning and S&OP, logistics and distribution.
Assess current-state operating models, maturity, and performance; identify improvement opportunities using structured, data-driven frameworks.
Design future-state supply chain architectures incorporating advanced planning, AI-enabled forecasting, digital twins, automation, and predictive analytics.
Advise executive stakeholders on supply chain modernization aligned to grid modernization, regulatory expectations, decarbonization goals, and long-term capital programs.
Build business cases and value models that quantify financial impact, productivity gains, risk reduction, and service-level improvements.
Supply Chain Strategy & Planning
Develop and optimize end-to-end supply chain strategies tailored to the operating environment.
Lead initiatives related to demand forecasting, planning, and S&OP models that balance service reliability with cost and working capital objectives.
Support supply chain planning for major utility capital programs, including substations, undergrounding, AMI deployments, renewable interconnections, and pipeline projects.
Improve coordination across engineering, sourcing, commercial, manufacturing, planning and logistics to enable a resilient execution.
Procurement & Category Management Leadership
Lead strategic sourcing and category management initiatives across transmission and distribution equipment, field services, IT/OT, fleet, and materials.
Oversee vendor selection, bid evaluations, negotiations, and contract development to achieve cost, reliability, and safety objectives.
Implement supplier risk assessment, audit, and continuous improvement programs to strengthen supply assurance and resilience.
Establish contract performance monitoring for safety, delivery, quality, and productivity.
Business Development
Build and sustain executive-level client relationships as a trusted advisor, identifying and shaping new business opportunities aligned to client priorities.
Leverage Huron’s capabilities, industry expertise, and professional network to design solutions that meet client objectives and clearly articulate value and return on investment.
Lead business development efforts from opportunity identification through close, including presentations, negotiations, and contract execution for new work.
Demonstrate a strong track record of generating revenue from both new and existing clients by expanding complex relationships across multiple senior stakeholders and cultivating lasting partnerships that drive repeat business.
Practice Leadership
Mentor and develop consulting team members, providing coaching across client delivery, executive communication, and problem solving.
Help build and scale Huron’s Commercial Supply Chain consulting capabilities through recruiting, knowledge development, team leadership, and go-to-market collaboration.
Contribute to the growth of the practice through thought leadership, internal capability building, and strategic account planning.
Requirements:
10+ years of experience in supply chain consulting, operations, or large-scale transformation roles, with demonstrated impact across strategy and execution.
Prior experience in a consulting firm or equivalent internal consulting / transformation role, operating at the Senior Manager or Director level.
Demonstrated business development experience, including identifying opportunities, shaping solutions, and expanding relationships with new and existing clients.
Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain operations, including planning, procurement, logistics, inventory, and execution across complex operating environments.
Proven ability to assess current-state operating models, identify performance gaps, and design scalable, future-state solutions.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams, managing multiple workstreams, and delivering results in fast-paced, client-facing environments.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree (MBA, MS in Supply Chain, Analytics, Operations, or related field) or equivalent advanced certification.
Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: Sales and Operations Planning, warehouse management, procurement, category management, inventory optimization, logistics, demand planning, or field service supply chains.
Experience building and implementing supply chain strategies, operating models, and performance management frameworks.
Working knowledge of advanced analytics, automation, and AI-enabled technologies, including machine learning, large language models, or agent-based systems.
Experience embedding analytics, GenAI, or automation into planning, forecasting, or execution processes.
Familiarity with digital supply chain platforms or ERP implementations, such as Kinaxis, o9, Blue Yonder, SAP, Oracle, IBM Maximo, or Coupa.
Travel and Home Office: Travel requirements vary by project, but candidates must be willing to travel weekly as needed. You may live anywhere in the contiguous 48 states near a major airport.
The estimated base salary range for this job is $240,000 - $325,000. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that Huron reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel.
This job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron’s pay for performance philosophy. Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is $300,000 - $438,750. The job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
