Senior Director, Digital Operations Platform Lead 

College Board - Operations 

Location This is a fully remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have the option of being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office).

About the Team 

College Board’s Operations division aims to be a world class digital assessment delivery and customer engagement organization that supports millions of students and thousands of test centers annually. Operations is also leading the College Board’s exciting transformation to support delivery of digital assessments.

  

The Operations Division at College Board is comprised of three functional areas responsible for all aspects of clean delivery for College Board programs: Assessment Delivery Operations; Customer Engagement & Experience; and Knowledge, Learning and Operational Effectiveness. Our work is driven by the evolving needs of our internal partners and external customers, and we support them through flexible strategies and quality delivery to effectively advance enterprise-wide goals and priorities. 

 

About the Opportunity  

The Senior Director, Digital Operations Platform Lead will lead complex, high-impact initiatives that advance key strategic and product development priorities. A central focus of this role is to Build for the Future—advancing, redefining, and scaling Operations capabilities and structures to deliver in new markets and for new customers. The Senior Director will partner closely with functional and domain leaders across Operations, as well as Product and Technology, to establish and manage a strategic and critical initiative roadmap and governance structure to ensure alignment, elevate strategic decisions and prioritization, escalate issues/remove obstacles, and drive execution toward shared outcomes. This role requires strong strategic judgment, disciplined execution, and the ability to translate broad organizational goals into actionable plans, while managing dependencies and competing priorities. The ideal candidate will bring a systems mindset, a bias for clarity, and a proven ability to drive results in a dynamic, matrixed environment. 

 

In this role, you will: 

Strategic and Operational Alignment (35%) 

  • Establish clear structures and governance for highly visible, cross-functional initiatives to enable decision-making and accountability. 

  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable plans, milestones, and success metrics that align Operations structures and plans with Product and Technology priorities. 

  • Build and maintain integrated roadmaps that connect product development roadmaps with operational readiness, delivery and support roadmaps, including system and process requirements. 

  • Drive alignment across workstreams, surfacing dependencies and facilitating resolution of competing priorities. 

  

Execution, Risk, and Resource Management (30%) 

  • Anticipate and mitigate risks through proactive issue management and structured escalation. 

  • Establish and lead effective operating rhythms, including initiative reviews, stakeholder updates, and retrospectives. 

  • Ensure resources and capacity are aligned with initiative priorities, partnering with functional leaders to balance workloads. 

  • Define and manage reporting mechanisms that provide visibility into progress, risks, and impact for senior leadership and represent voice of Operations as part of product/platform discussions. 

 

Change Leadership and Communication (20%) 

  • Enable change and adoption by driving clarity, communication, and consistency across teams during periods of transition. 

  • Work closely with product development teams to understand and support work related to platforms and processes 

  • Keep project leadership informed of project status, potential risks, and active issues 

 

Continuous Improvement and Impact Measurement (15%) 

  • Continuously improve delivery practices by embedding feedback loops, measuring outcomes, and refining processes over time. 

 

About You 

To qualify for this role, you must have:  

  • Expertise in operations, program management, or digital transformation, ideally in a complex, matrixed organization for 8 or more years  

  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives that bridge product, technology, and operations 

  • Proven ability to create structure and alignment in ambiguous environments 

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with senior leaders and technical teams alike 

  • Expertise in project governance, strategic planning, and resource management 

  • A collaborative, systems-oriented mindset and a passion for advancing organizational excellence 

  • Familiarity with digital delivery models, agile principles, and organizational change management best practices 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred 

  • The ability to travel 6-8 times a year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board business

About Our Process   

  • Application review will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. This role is expected to accept applications for a minimum of 5 business days.

  • The hiring range for this role is $96,000 - $160,000. 

  • Your exact salary will depend on your location, experience, and how your background compares to others in similar roles at the College Board.
