Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across five continents.

While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it. Our greatest scientific solution is talented people working together, devising ideas that help businesses to help people. In exchange, we let our people own their careers. Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world. And that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.

At Lonza, we are looking for a Senior Director, Global PMO to lead enterprise transformation and strategic execution across the Advanced Synthesis (ADS) platform. This highly visible leadership role will be responsible for driving a portfolio of high-priority transformation initiatives that accelerate business performance, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and support long-term growth.

Partnering closely with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams, you will establish governance frameworks, drive prioritization and resource allocation decisions, and ensure the successful execution of strategic initiatives across multiple functions and geographies. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, you will help shape the strategic agenda of the ADS platform while ensuring measurable business outcomes and value creation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Own a portfolio of enterprise transformation programmes across the Advanced Synthesis platform, ensuring delivery of strategic, operational, and financial objectives
  • Lead the execution of high-impact business initiatives spanning multiple functions, business units, and global regions, driving measurable value creation and business outcomes
  • Establish and govern transformation frameworks, operating models, prioritization processes, and execution standards to drive accountability and consistency across the organization
  • Chair executive governance forums, steering committees, and strategic reviews, enabling timely decision-making and effective issue resolution
  • Drive prioritization and resource allocation discussions in partnership with senior business leaders to maximize business impact and execution effectiveness
  • Identify enterprise-level risks, dependencies, and organizational barriers, proactively driving mitigation plans and corrective actions
  • Lead global cross-functional workstreams across commercial, operational, technical, quality, finance, strategy, and corporate functions
  • Measure and communicate programme performance through KPIs, business outcome metrics, and value realization frameworks
  • Champion continuous improvement of transformation capabilities, governance processes, and enterprise execution discipline
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on transformation strategy, organizational effectiveness, M&A integration activities, and strategic execution priorities

Requires qualifications:

  • Extensive and proven experience in business transformation, enterprise PMO, strategic operations, management consulting, M&A, operational excellence, or related fields
  • Proven track record leading large-scale transformation programmes and complex cross-functional initiatives within global, matrixed organizations
  • Strong experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving alignment without direct authority across multiple business functions and organizational levels
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution, translating business priorities into measurable outcomes
  • Experience within life sciences, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of enterprise governance, portfolio management, strategic planning, and transformation delivery methodologies
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, facilitation, and executive presentation skills
  • Proven experience delivering measurable business outcomes through transformation initiatives, including operating model redesign, productivity improvement, organizational effectiveness, growth acceleration, value creation, or integration programmes
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments characterized by ambiguity, complexity, and competing priorities

Every day, Lonza’s products and services have a positive impact on millions of people. For us, this is not only a great privilege, but also a great responsibility. How we achieve our business results is just as important as the achievements themselves. At Lonza, we respect and protect our people and our environment.
