Job Description

As Senior Director of Product Design, you will lead design across consumer experiences in credit, identity, marketplace, and financial services — shaping how people understand their financial lives, protect their identities, and find products that support their goals. This is a dedicated design leadership role responsible for design craft, systems, and practice, working closely with Product, Technology, Engineering, Analytics, and Revenue. You will help lead an AI-native product transformation, rebuilding core experiences with AI as a design material rather than an added feature.

At Experian, we believe great work happens when people come together. We're focused on attracting talent in and around our designated hub locations who are open to collaborating with colleagues in person. Aligning employees to these talent markets helps foster collaboration, strengthen team connections, and support long-term career growth within Experian. You will report to the Chief Product Officer, and reside in or near one of our collaboration hubs:

Costa Mesa, CA; San Jose, CA; Allen, TX; Austin, TX; Franklin, TN; New York, NY; Schaumberg, IL; Washington, D.C.; Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Seattle, WA

You'll have opportunity to:

  • Lead an AI-native redesign of core consumer experiences, using AI as a foundational design material rather than an add-on feature
  • Shape new interaction models for personalized, intelligent experiences, determining when AI should guide, explain, act, or stay out of the way
  • Own design outcomes against shared product metrics such as activation, conversion, engagement, retention, and revenue, partnering closely with Product, Analytics, and Revenue
  • Bring behavioral design principles into product and design decisions
  • Design for consumer trust in credit and identity experiences, balancing transparency, protection, and ease of use
  • Lead the evolution of the design system as shared product infrastructure, in partnership with Engineering
  • Lead, coach, and grow a multidisciplinary team of product and content designers, including hiring and team structure
  • Operate as a high-agency partner to the CPO and senior leaders, helping shape strategy and surface trade-offs

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience leading product design within a scaled consumer technology, fintech, marketplace, or similarly complex digital product company
  • 3+ years experience hiring, developing, and leading product design teams
  • Experience leading a major product transformation or platform shift, including AI-driven redesigns of core product workflows
  • Experience owning a product or business metric (e.g., activation, conversion, engagement, retention, revenue) tied directly to design decisions
  • Experience building, evolving, or governing a design system in partnership with Engineering, with evidence of production adoption
  • Experience applying behavioral design principles to consumer decision-making, engagement, and habit formation
  • Experience partnering with Analytics, Growth, or Revenue teams on experimentation, funnels, and growth metrics
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders across Product, Technology, Engineering, and Revenue
  • Reside in, or near the designated Collaboration Hub(s) for this role.
