Position Summary

TRP Infrastructure Services is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior EHS Specialist to support and enhance Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) operations across our Pavement Marking, Traffic Control, and Heavy Highway Construction divisions. This position serves as a key safety leader within the organization, partnering closely with Operations, Branch Leadership, and Field Personnel to drive compliance, reduce risk, and strengthen TRP's safety culture.

The Senior EHS Specialist is responsible for leading safety initiatives, conducting comprehensive audits, managing incident investigations, delivering training programs, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental regulations, and client-specific requirements. This role provides mentorship to Safety Associates and serves as a trusted advisor to operational leadership on all EHS-related matters.


Requirements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Safety Leadership & Program Management

  • Serve as a safety subject matter expert and resource for field operations and leadership teams.
  • Promote and reinforce TRP's safety-first culture through active field engagement and leadership presence.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of company safety programs and policies.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Safety Associates and field leadership.
  • Support branch leadership in achieving safety performance goals and key performance indicators.
  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives related to safety, risk management, and operational excellence.

Field Safety Oversight

  • Conduct comprehensive jobsite inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Evaluate work practices and identify opportunities to reduce exposure to hazards.
  • Verify compliance with OSHA standards, DOT regulations, client requirements, and company policies.
  • Monitor work zone safety, traffic control operations, and roadway construction activities.
  • Partner with Superintendents and Foremen to develop corrective action plans and ensure timely resolution.
  • Perform safety observations and behavioral-based safety coaching.

Training & Workforce Development

  • Lead new hire orientation and onboarding safety programs.
  • Develop and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, leadership safety meetings, and compliance training.
  • Coordinate employee certifications, training schedules, and qualification tracking.
  • Assist with development of safety campaigns, awareness programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coach operational leaders on safety leadership and accountability practices.

Compliance & Regulatory Management

  • Manage OSHA logs, training records, inspection documentation, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Lead internal and external safety audits.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, local, and client safety requirements.
  • Assist with environmental compliance programs, spill prevention measures, and waste management practices as applicable.
  • Ensure field personnel maintain required certifications, licenses, and qualifications.
  • Support DOT compliance initiatives including driver qualification files, fleet inspections, and transportation safety requirements.

Incident Investigation & Risk Management

  • Lead investigations involving incidents, injuries, near misses, vehicle accidents, and property damage.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Prepare detailed investigation reports and recommendations for leadership review.
  • Monitor trends and identify opportunities for proactive risk reduction.
  • Coordinate return-to-work and post-incident follow-up activities when applicable.

Operational & Environmental Support

  • Partner with Operations to evaluate safety considerations during project planning and execution.
  • Assist with equipment, facility, and fleet safety programs.
  • Support environmental compliance efforts, including spill response and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in customer meetings, safety reviews, and pre-construction planning sessions.
  • Travel throughout assigned regions to support project operations and EHS initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of safety experience in construction, pavement marking, traffic control, heavy highway, transportation, or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Experience leading safety training programs and safety audits.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout assigned territories and work occasional nights or weekends.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer Certification.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
  • ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) Certification.
  • CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) Certification.
  • ASP (Associate Safety Professional) Certification.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Experience in pavement marking, roadway striping, traffic control, or heavy highway construction operations.
  • Experience supporting multi-state operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to access active construction and roadway work zones safely.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, gloves, and work boots.
  • Ability to travel frequently by vehicle and occasionally overnight.

Work Environment

  • Combination of field and office work.
  • Frequent travel to active roadway and construction projects.
  • Exposure to traffic, construction equipment, noise, dust, heat, and varying weather conditions.
  • Occasional overnight travel required.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring strong organizational and communication skills.
