As a Senior Principal Architect, you operate as a Full Spectrum Enterprise Architect, combining deep technical expertise with strategic influence. You define and lead architecture strategy and delivery frameworks across multiple technology domains, shaping modernization roadmaps and large-scale transformation initiatives.
Your focus is on driving delivery excellence at enterprise scale while guiding modernization strategy, engaging executive stakeholders, and fostering collaboration across App Innovation, Cloud Platform, and Data & AI practices. You lead through influence, connecting business outcomes with technology strategy to deliver measurable transformation success.
This role represents the pinnacle of architectural leadership, balancing technical mastery, cross-domain integration, and business alignment to accelerate modernization outcomes for clients and partners.
Responsibilities
  • Define and lead enterprise-level architecture strategies and delivery frameworks that align modernization programs to business and technology outcomes.
  • Shape cross-domain modernization roadmaps, integrating App Innovation, Cloud Platform, and Data & AI strategies into cohesive delivery models.
  • Mentor senior architects and technical leaders to strengthen design quality, reusability, and scalability across complex delivery environments.
  • Drive cross-practice collaboration by developing reusable assets, frameworks, and patterns that enable consistency across programs and industries.
  • Partner with executive stakeholders to align modernization investments with measurable business outcomes and enterprise transformation goals.
  • Represent architectural leadership in executive forums, client engagements, and partner discussions to advance delivery excellence and credibility.
  • Identify and guide emerging technology adoption, translating innovation into scalable frameworks that enhance delivery maturity and client value.
  • Contribute to presales and solution strategy, collaborating with business development and delivery teams on high-value proposals and modernization initiatives.
  • Champion mentorship and capability growth within architecture and delivery teams to ensure sustainable, high-quality execution.
  • Balance strategic impact and delivery execution, managing commitments to achieve both client success and organizational growth.
Requirements
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-scale architecture strategy and delivery programs across large portfolios or transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and guide modernization strategies spanning application, cloud, and data domains.
  • Recognized for thought leadership through executive engagement, public speaking, industry contributions, or published insights.
  • Skilled at mentoring senior architects and technical leaders to elevate delivery quality, solution consistency, and reusability.
  • Strong background shaping long-term modernization roadmaps, capability frameworks, and investment strategies that align to business outcomes.
  • Deep expertise in Azure architecture with a strong understanding of enterprise-scale cloud adoption, governance, and integration models.
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with hybrid or multi-cloud environments and enterprise modernization programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex architecture concepts into clear business impact.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for client engagements as needed.
Expertise
At this level, architects demonstrate fluency across multiple technology domains while maintaining deep expertise in at least one. Candidates should bring significant experience defining and leading modernization strategies that span application, cloud, and data ecosystems.
Application Innovation
  • Lead modernization of complex enterprise application portfolios across .NET, Java, Node.js, and Python.
  • Define and oversee modernization roadmaps that align business objectives with scalable application architectures.
  • Design and guide event-driven, API-first, and microservices-based systems that support enterprise agility.
  • Shape DevOps adoption strategies, CI/CD governance, and container platforms such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Container Apps.
  • Influence development best practices across delivery teams to ensure quality, reusability, and maintainability at scale.
Cloud Platform
  • Define and govern enterprise-scale landing zones, hybrid architectures, and multi-cloud strategies.
  • Lead cloud platform strategy, governance, and operational frameworks for security, compliance, and cost optimization.
  • Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates) and automation for consistent, scalable delivery.
  • Integrate identity, networking, and platform operations into cohesive delivery models that enable modernization across domains.
  • Shape platform engineering standards that support modernization programs and enterprise transformation.
Data & AI
  • Define enterprise data and AI strategies that enable advanced analytics and business insight at scale.
  • Architect modern data platforms using Azure Synapse, Databricks, Data Lake, and related technologies.
  • Guide the integration of AI and machine learning into modernization programs using Azure Machine Learning and Cognitive Services.
  • Establish data governance, integration, and quality frameworks that ensure consistency across complex enterprise data ecosystems.
  • Enable decision intelligence through scalable, reusable data architectures aligned to enterprise transformation goals.
Certification Requirements
  • Core Requirement:
    • AZ-900: Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals
    • AZ-104: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
    • AZ-305: Solutions Architect Expert
    • AI-102: Azure AI Engineer Associate
    • SC-900: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals

3Cloud offers competitive compensation. In addition to base pay employees are eligible to receive an annual discretionary/utilization bonus. If you are hired at 3Cloud your final base salary is based on factors such as skills, education, experience and/or geographic location. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above includes the full base salary range for the role. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range.

Base Salary Range
$145,200$217,800 USD
