Vaulted is a waste management company that removes carbon. We take organic waste that can pollute our environment above ground and safely inject it ultra deep underground—permanently removing carbon from the atmosphere while protecting local land, air, and water. Vaulted is based in Houston, San Francisco, and Kansas.

With a growing team of 70+ people across the country, Vaulted signed the second largest carbon removal offtake ever with Microsoft in July 2025 and is rapidly expanding to new sites.

Vaulted's proprietary technology builds on decades of expertise to deliver safe, durable carbon and waste management solutions now, at scale.

Position Summary

We're hiring a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Houston-based team, reporting to the Director of Finance. This role sits at the center of how Vaulted evaluates, finances, and manages its projects. Most of your time will go to project modeling: building and owning the models that underwrite new sites, support financing and commercial negotiations, and inform investment decisions. The balance is planning and performance analysis across our operating sites and corporate entities. You'll work directly with senior leadership and our site development and commercial teams, turning models and results into clear recommendations on where to invest and how the business is performing.

What You'll Do

Project Finance & Modeling (~60%)

  • Own and maintain project-level financial models for new and operating sites

  • Partner with site development and business development to evaluate new sites; run scenarios and sensitivities that support go/no-go decisions and investment committees

  • Support project financing and capital raising

  • Model commercial structures and support the structuring and negotiation of term sheets for offtake, waste supply, partnership, and financing agreements

  • Keep project models integrated with the corporate model, with assumptions, version control, and documentation maintained to an audit-ready standard

  • Provide ad hoc analysis for leadership across commercial, operational, and strategic questions

Financial Planning & Analysis (~40%)

  • Contribute to the annual site development and operating budgets in partnership with department leaders, from assumptions through final approval; maintain rolling and cash forecasts

  • Perform budget vs. actual and prior-period variance analysis, and explain the key drivers to leadership

  • Develop and maintain the KPI reports and dashboards leadership uses to track operational and financial performance

  • Build analyses for board materials, investor updates, and fundraising diligence

  • Support covenant calculations, compliance certificates, and lender reporting packages in coordination with accounting and legal

Qualifications

Preferred

  • 3-5 years of experience in project finance, infrastructure or energy investment banking, project development, infrastructure investing or lending, or corporate finance with significant project modeling exposure

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field, with a working foundation in both finance and accounting

  • Advanced Excel modeling: comfortable building and auditing project finance models (debt sizing and sculpting, DSCR, cash waterfalls, IRR/NPV) and three-statement models from scratch

  • Working knowledge of project finance structures, including project-level debt and SPV structures

  • Ability to explain model outputs and their key drivers clearly to non-finance stakeholders

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage recurring deadlines independently

  • Located in Houston, TX or willing to relocate

Nice to Have

  • Experience in waste, energy, or another asset-heavy infrastructure sector

  • Familiarity with carbon markets, waste industry economics, or environmental commodities

  • Experience supporting lender or investor diligence processes

What You'll Gain

Vaulted offers comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance for our team members, putting safety, well-being, and health above all.

• A flexible workplace, with hybrid work options plus generous paid time off, paid leave options, and 13 company holidays to ensure our Vaulters have ample opportunity to rest and recharge.

• Employer-sponsored 401(k) plans with matching contributions, along with opportunities for career growth both within the company and beyond.

How We Work

• Safety comes first. We protect our people, communities, and environment above all else. We preserve a culture of care that puts our team's safety and well-being first. Everyone gets home safe; everyone deserves a safe home.

• We seek & speak the truth. Every person has the power and obligation to speak up, free from fear of repercussion. We are transparent in what we do and what we think. Anchored in a culture of kindness and respect, we do this in the spirit of making ourselves and our work better.

• We believe there's no time to waste. In the fight against climate change, that urgency drives our entrepreneurial spirit and our sense of ownership in building this company. We are self-starters with a bias to action. We do the work to be great.
