Own BESS modeling, model validation, and grid-code compliance support for Chile projects and advanced applications including data centers. Develop, review, test, document, and defend EMT, RMS, steady-state, and PPC model packages with inverter OEMs, modeling firms, grid operators, utilities, and internal teams.

This is a hands-on modeling and grid-integration role. The person must perform modeling work, communicate findings clearly, and actively pull support from OEMs, modeling firms, controls teams, and project teams to keep studies and compliance work moving.

RequirementsKey Responsibilities

·   Develop, review, and validate EMT, RMS, steady-state, and PPC models for BESS, inverters, plant controllers, and company applications.

·   Work with inverter vendors across multiple time zones to obtain models, verify completeness, test performance, and close model gaps.

·   Integrate inverter and plant-controller models with company PPC models and create complete model packages for project and study use.

·   Perform and review studies for fault ride-through, voltage and frequency response, reactive power capability, weak-grid behavior, control interactions, and grid-code compliance.

·   Create and update PPC models, control block logic diagrams, model documentation, simulation reports, and compliance evidence.

·   Coordinate with internal grid modeling teams to ensure models follow company modeling guidelines and quality standards.

·   Support external modeling firms by clarifying model assumptions, resolving technical questions, and enabling timely study completion.

·   Track evolving grid-code and modeling requirements from grid operators and utilities and update models as needed to maintain compliance.

·   Use Jira, email, meetings, and direct technical engagement to obtain support, resolve blockers, and keep modeling deliverables progressing.

·   Communicate technical findings professionally with OEMs, consultants, utilities, grid operators, customers, and internal stakeholders.

·   Support new BESS applications, including data centers, GFM, Black Start, island operation, and other advanced control use cases.

·   Travel to project sites and vendor factories as needed for model validation, technical workshops, FAT support, or project execution.

Required Qualifications

·   Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Power Electronics, Controls, or related field.

·   7+ years of experience in power systems, BESS, inverter-based resources, grid interconnection, or power-system modeling.

·   Hands-on experience with EMT, RMS, PPC, and steady-state modeling for utility-scale inverter-based resources.

·   Proficiency with PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS®E, PowerFactory, MATLAB/Simulink, PSLF, TSAT, ETAP, or similar tools.

·   Strong understanding of inverter controls, plant controllers, grid-code compliance, model validation, and utility interconnection requirements.

·   Ability to test models, identify gaps, challenge assumptions, and prevent incomplete model packages from moving forward.

·   Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including professional technical emails and the ability to influence cross-functional support without direct authority.

·   Experience using Jira or similar tools to manage modeling issues, technical blockers, owners, and closure status.

·   Ability to coordinate across OEMs, modeling firms, utilities, grid operators, customers, and internal engineering teams.

·   Valid work authorization and ability to obtain or maintain required visas for international travel to project sites, customer locations, and vendor factories.
