Our Senior HR Compensation Partner plays a key role in developing, analyzing, and implementing compensation programs that support the organization's strategic goals. This person supports the design, analysis, and administration of compensation strategies, programs, and structures, including base pay, incentive programs, job architecture & evaluation, and market benchmarking to attract, motivate and retain talent.

Salary Range
$80,000 ~ $100,000
The base pay offered for this position may vary within the posted range based on your job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Work Location
Our first consideration will be to have this employee live in the state of Wisconsin to take advantage of Hybrid work and collaboration. Employees within 45 miles of WPS Headquarters (1717 W. Broadway in Madison, WI, 53713) will be expected to be able to work in our office 2 days a week on a regular basis.
**As a secondary consideration, we do offer remote work in the following approved states:

Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin

  • Want to support the design, implementation, and administration of compensation programs including salary structures, pay practices, and incentive plans. 
  • Like to provide guidance and support to HR Business Partners and managers on the administration of compensation and job architecture frameworks and applying compensation best practices. 
  • Enjoy analyzing and interpreting compensation data to assess competitiveness and recommend changes to pay structures and compensation programs. 
  • Would like to administer the annual compensation cycle activities including merit, bonus, and salary planning processes; preparing data, conducting validations, and generating reporting. 
  • Enjoy partnering with HR Business Partners and/or leaders on job evaluation processes, including consultation on job design, enterprise-wide job leveling, and market alignment. 
  • Have conducted market pricing using survey data and external sources; analyze results and provide recommendations. 
  • Can ensure compensation practices align with applicable regulations (e.g., Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the Service Contract Act (SCA), pay transparency) and internal guidelines. 
  • Enjoys monitoring compensation trends and preparing insights to support decision-making. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 5 or more years of experience in compensation, including analysis, market pricing, and program administration. 
  • Strong working knowledge of compensation principles, practices, job architecture and market benchmarking. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel and experience with market pricing tools. 
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as FLSA, SCA wage determinations, and pay transparency regulations. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain compensation concepts to HR partners and managers. 
  • Experience in supporting HR systems (e.g., UKG Pro) and compensation cycles. 

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
  • Experience developing or administering sales incentive plans.
