Over 9,000 paid customers, including companies like Netflix, Pinterest, Sweetgreen, and Samsara, use Mixpanel to understand their customers and measure progress. Our commitment is to provide the most comprehensive and reliable analytics platform accessible and trusted by all.

About the Team

The Tech Services team is responsible for the systems, tools, and infrastructure that power Mixpanel’s internal operations. We support employees across the company by ensuring our corporate technology is secure, reliable, and scalable. Our work spans IT systems, identity and access management, automation, and cross-functional tooling, partnering closely with Security, People Ops, Finance, and Engineering.

Our goal is to bring an engineering and automation-first mindset to corporate IT—treating internal systems with the same rigor, reliability, and scalability as customer-facing products.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior IT Systems Engineer to help scale our internal systems and infrastructure. In this role, you’ll focus on automation, management, and scalability of our internal corporate systems and infrastructure. This is a hands-on, highly technical role for someone who enjoys building, scripting, and owning systems end-to-end. You’ll work closely with IT, Security, and other internal teams to streamline operations, automate manual processes, and improve the daily technological experience for all our employees. Your primary objective is to bring a DevOps mindset to our corporate IT operations, ensuring our internal services are as reliable and efficient as our external products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop scripts and automation workflows (e.g., using Python, PowerShell, or Bash) to automate routine IT tasks such as user onboarding/offboarding, software deployment, and system patching.
  • Implement and manage integrations between corporate systems and tools
  • Author internal guides covering process improvements, reliability patterns, and best practices.
  • Design, build, and maintain our internal IT infrastructure using tools like Terraform or Ansible. This includes managing cloud resources (AWS, Azure, GCP), virtualization platforms, and on-premises hardware.
  • Manage and automate our identity provider (e.g., Okta, ) and its integrations with various SaaS applications (like Slack, Google Workspace, etc) to ensure secure and efficient access control.
  • Act as a key technical resource for the IT helpdesk and other teams, troubleshooting complex issues and providing solutions that prevent future occurrences. Champion best practices within the IT organization.
  • Work alongside the security team to implement and enforce security policies, manage vulnerabilities, and ensure our internal systems comply with industry standards.

We're Looking For Someone Who Has

  • 5+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or Systems Engineering role within an internal DevOps or IT team supporting corporate functions.
  • Proficiency with at least one major cloud provider, preferably GCP (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong programming or scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or a similar language.
  • Experience with automation platforms such as Zapier, Tray, Tines, or similar.
  • Strong experience leveraging OpenAPI to build integrations between key corporate systems (i.e. HRIS—>Okta).
  • Experience working with agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform or CloudFormation).
  • Deep experience supporting Apple/macOS environments.
  • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure and networking fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with a passion for improving processes and helping colleagues.
  • Proven flexibility in navigating diverse systems, codebases, and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a remote environment.

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with endpoint management tools (MDM).
  • Experience working closely with Security or Governance teams.
  • Background in CI/CD tooling for internal platforms.
