We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Software Engineering Consultant for a strategic regulatory transformation programme at one of the world's largest US investment banks. As an independent consultant, you will collaborate within an Agile delivery environment to contribute to the implementation of Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB) capabilities, supporting scalable, high-performance solutions for market risk and regulatory reporting.
Scope of Services:
- Design, develop and enhance Java-based solutions supporting FRTB Standardised Approach (SA) and Internal Models Approach (IMA) initiatives.
- Integrate new market risk and regulatory data sources while improving platform scalability, resilience and performance.
- Contribute to the evolution of distributed platforms capable of supporting significant data volume growth.
- Provide specialist consulting services supporting production platforms and operational tooling within Agile delivery environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional client teams to deliver reliable, high-quality software solutions.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of strong commercial experience with advanced Java development, SQL & Python skills.
- Experience building high-volume, distributed enterprise systems within complex financial services environments.
- Knowledge of FRTB, market risk, Basel III/IV or comparable regulatory capital frameworks.
- Experience delivering complex software solutions using Agile methodologies and engineering best practices.
Bonus Points For
- Experience delivering regulatory reporting or market risk technology platforms within investment banking.
- Exposure to cloud-native architectures, distributed computing or performance optimisation.
- Experience working with global engineering teams across multiple regions.
- Knowledge of financial markets, trading products or risk analytics.
- Previous consulting experience delivering technology transformation programmes.
