An overview of this role

As a Senior Learning Experience Designer, you'll create scalable, digital-first learning experiences that help GitLab customers get real value from our AI powered DevSecOps platform. You'll be part of the Digital Success team within Professional Services Education Services, designing outcome-driven courses that turn complex technical concepts into clear, engaging learning for a global audience. You’ll focus on building modular, on-demand digital courses and virtual instructor led training, applying adult learning theory, instructional design best practices, and your technical aptitude to craft content that meets customers where they are and helps them grow into confident GitLab champions. You’ll work closely with subject matter experts and cross-functional partners to keep content aligned with product updates, and you’ll iterate based on data and learner feedback so our education programs stay current, impactful, and easy to consume at scale.

Some examples of our projects:

  • Developing modular, self-paced eLearning paths and virtual instructor led courses for GitLab certification and accreditation programs
  • Creating interactive, hands-on labs and assessments that simulate real-world GitLab workflows for enterprise customers
What you'll do
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable digital learning experiences for GitLab customers, with a focus on self-paced eLearning and virtual instructor-led courses that align to defined learning outcomes
  • Create clear, engaging educational content across formats (eLearning modules, slide presentations, facilitator guides, videos, hands-on labs, assessments) that supports GitLab certification, accreditation, and enablement programs
  • Build and iterate multi-module learning paths delivered through our Learning Management System and virtual delivery platforms that help customers adopt GitLab, deepen product expertise, and drive measurable product usage
  • Collaborate closely with Education Services, curriculum developers, subject matter experts, and cross-functional partners (such as Product, Engineering, Support, and Professional Services) to ensure learning content reflects current product capabilities and business priorities
  • Design and refine virtual training experiences, workshops, and lab-based activities that give learners practical, guided opportunities to apply GitLab concepts in realistic technical environments
  • Analyze learner, course, and program performance data to surface insights and make recommendations that improve content quality, learner engagement, knowledge retention, and program effectiveness
  • Enable and support instructors, facilitators, and internal stakeholders by providing clear documentation, teaching materials, and guidance on how to deliver GitLab education content consistently in virtual environments
  • Maintain a consistent instructional approach, visual style, and content standards across digital and virtual learning experiences while managing multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders in an all-remote, asynchronous environment
What you'll bring
  • Background in instructional design, learning experience design, curriculum development, technical training, or related fields such as education, learning and development, or enablement
  • Experience using eLearning authoring tools and digital learning platforms (such as Articulate Rise, Storyline, Captivate, Clueso, or Camtasia), including basic configuration, publishing, and analytics
  • Experience developing and executing digital learning programs and campaigns across channels like self-paced eLearning, virtual instructor led training, video, interactive labs, and presentations
  • Ability to analyze learner and platform metrics to assess performance and optimize courses, learning paths, assessments, and certifications
  • Skill in planning and managing learning projects, coordinating with multiple stakeholders and subject matter experts, and meeting deadlines in a structured, organized way
  • Proven experience helping to shape and implement learning strategies and initiatives that support product adoption, customer outcomes, and business goals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to different audiences and learning formats
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a distributed team, with openness to learning new tools and applying transferable skills from related technical or educational disciplines
About the team

The Digital Success team sits within Professional Services Education Services and focuses on helping GitLab customers learn in clear, practical, and engaging ways. The team designs and delivers scalable digital education programs that include on-demand courses, hands-on labs, certification content, and virtual instructor led training to support customers across a wide range of technical backgrounds. The team partners with Product, Engineering, Support, Sales, and Customer Success to align training with product updates, customer needs, and business goals, and to ensure content is accurate, relevant, and easy to use in real-world environments. Working as a small, distributed team, we collaborate asynchronously across time zones, document our work in the handbook, and iterate based on learner feedback and data to continuously improve our offerings. Current priorities include expanding our catalog of digital and virtual courses, strengthening our certification and accreditation programs, and building modular learning paths that help customers deepen their GitLab skills and become champions of our platform.
