Job Description

The Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, and successful closure of projects. This role serves as the single point of accountability for project execution, ensuring alignment with defined objectives, timelines, scope, and budget. The position operates with oversight from key stakeholders and is empowered with the authority necessary to deliver successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the single point of accountability for project execution, primarily for lower-risk initiatives, while supporting larger, complex projects under senior guidance

  • Lead project planning, execution, monitoring, and closure activities

  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and resource allocation

  • Communicate project status, risks, and impacts to stakeholders and senior leadership

  • Anticipate, evaluate, and resolve project issues, delays, and risks using sound project management practices

  • Track key milestones and adjust project plans and resources as needed to meet objectives

  • Support and track project budgeting and financial performance

  • Execute SDLC and/or Agile methodologies in alignment with organizational governance processes

  • Mentor and provide guidance to project managers across the organization

Leadership & Team Management
  • Establish team priorities, performance goals, and objectives aligned with organizational strategy

  • Manage and evaluate individual and team performance; take action to meet or exceed expectations

  • Provide ongoing coaching, training, and development opportunities, including stretch assignments

  • Deliver honest, constructive feedback to support employee growth and talent development

  • Ensure workloads are effectively distributed and balanced across the team

  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and quality

  • Partner in hiring, developing, and retaining top talent

  • Build organizational capabilities to support long-term business strategy

Project Delivery Methodologies

SDLC

  • Define clear and achievable project deliverables based on requirements

  • Develop detailed project plans, including task-level assignments for cross-functional teams

  • Monitor work progress, identify resource needs, and conduct quality reviews

  • Report status updates and escalate issues as appropriate

  • Manage project constraints, including cost, time, scope, and quality

Agile

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Scrum and Kanban methodologies

  • Lead Scrum teams in defining sprint goals and deliverables

  • Guide Kanban teams in prioritizing and delivering work efficiently

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline

    • Equivalent experience (10+ years of demonstrable project management experience) may be considered in lieu of degree

  • 10+ years of applicable IT experience

  • 5+ years of people management experience

  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects

  • Expertise in SDLC and Agile delivery frameworks

  • Strategic thinking with a focus on execution and results

DOT Requirements

If applicable, meet all DOT qualification requirements and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations.

Compensation Range

$131,900.00 - $197,800.00
