The position:

We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Software Engineering – Sales Tech to lead the engineering teams responsible for building, maintaining, and enhancing the platforms that enable our Sales organization to connect families with the right senior living communities.

The Sales Tech organization supports the Lead Platform, Core Infrastructure, and Community tools which powers our advisor workflows, lead management, routing systems, CRM integration, revenue operations and support community engagement.

This role is focused on delivery excellence, team coordination, and operational clarity. The Senior Manager will ensure engineering execution aligns with stakeholder-defined initiatives, managing the day-to-day operations of a technical team that delivers reliable, high-quality software on time and at scale.

This position reports to the VP of Product & Technology – Senior Living.

What you will do:

Leadership & Execution

  • Lead the Sales Tech engineering development team responsible for building and maintaining the systems that support sales operations, lead management, and community engagement.

  • Task and coordinate QA resources supporting the Sales Tech product area, ensuring appropriate test coverage, prioritization, and alignment with release goals.

  • Translate stakeholder-driven business priorities into executable technical plans and sprint objectives.

  • Ensure clear documentation, planning, and delivery tracking for all engineering workstreams.

  • Oversee the day-to-day execution of engineering initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Product Management, Technical Program Management, and business stakeholders to clarify scope, define success criteria, and ensure timely progress against the roadmap.

  • Communicate clearly and regularly with non-technical partners to provide updates on timelines, tradeoffs, and delivery status.

  • Manage dependencies across teams, coordinating with Web, Data, and Infrastructure groups as needed.

People & Process Management

  • Manage a team of software development engineers; provide coaching, feedback, and professional development aligned with individual and organizational goals.

  • Maintain a positive, accountable, and high-performing team culture centered on delivery reliability and operational excellence.

  • Implement and maintain lightweight, repeatable engineering processes that promote visibility and predictability.

  • Collaborate with peers to ensure alignment of engineering practices, code quality, and deployment standards across teams.

Technical Stewardship

  • Ensure stable operation of the Lead Platform and supporting services through sound engineering practices, monitoring, and incident management.

  • Partner with architecture and platform teams to adopt common patterns and technologies that support scalability and maintainability.

  • Champion the use of AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering velocity, while implementing guardrails and human review processes to ensure output accuracy and prevent risk to production systems.

  • Apply a pragmatic, iterative approach to delivering technical improvements within business constraints.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or 3 years of equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of experience working on or managing high performance engineering teams, preferably developers and QA engineers in a combined team

  • Experience leading teams developing modern, high traffic applications and backend services, preferably using Node/TypeScript

  • Strong understanding of project management software, preferably Jira

  • Strong understanding of metrics and analytics to guide data driven decisions

  • Understanding of API architecture including REST and GraphQL

  • Understanding of data collection and storage methodologies and tools like MySQL / PostgreSQL / MongoDB / Elasticsearch

  • Understanding of AWS Services, Docker Containers, and CI/CD

  • A proven ability to navigate ambiguity, define direction, and align teams around team goals.

  • Experience working in Agile environments, with a strong grasp of SDLC and continuous delivery.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills—you inspire trust, create clarity, and drive change.

  • Familiarity with AI-driven development

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $135,000 to $170,000 + 20% Bonus
