Job Title: Senior Mechanical Automation Engineer II

Job Description:

Leads complex mechanical engineering automation, configuration-platform, and product-platforming initiatives, owning complete solutions and major technical workstreams from architecture through deployment and sustained operation. Applies advanced mechanical engineering, CAD automation, configuration management, workflow design, and systems-integration expertise to create scalable, reusable capability across product families. Establishes automation architectures, development standards, validation methods, and lifecycle practices; leads resolution of complex technical issues; and influences product structures and engineering workflows so automation can scale. Plans and leads large projects with significant autonomy, managing scope, cost, resources, risk, priorities, and stakeholders. Serves as a recognized technical leader who mentors engineers, leads technical reviews, and champions automation standards and best practices. Senior Mechanical Automation Engineer II is the Advanced role (E4) on Trystar's Engineering individual contributor career path, where the emphasis shifts from delivering assigned solutions to leading complex initiatives and influencing technical direction across projects and teams.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the architecture, design, development, deployment, and lifecycle support of complex mechanical automation systems, configurators, and engineering workflow solutions.
  • Own complete automation solutions and major product-family implementations, ensuring scalability, maintainability, performance, quality, and supportability.
  • Establish and improve standards for automation development, mechanical configuration logic, product platforming, CAD modeling, documentation, testing, release, and change control.
  • Lead implementation using CAD and configuration technologies, APIs, scripting, PDM, PLM, and related engineering systems.
  • Guide teams in creating automation-ready product structures, modular models, variant logic, reusable rules, and consistent engineering data.
  • Lead automation-readiness assessments, architecture reviews, technical reviews, and validation plans for significant engineering programs.
  • Analyze workflows, automation coverage, defects, adoption, and system-health information to prioritize improvements and capability investments.
  • Resolve complex automation, integration, data, configuration, and workflow issues; implement durable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives with product engineering, systems engineering, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, operations, and technology partners.
  • Evaluate and recommend automation technologies, development methods, architectures, and reusable frameworks that advance Engineering Automation capability.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring, develop less experienced engineers, share best practices, and represent mechanical automation in major initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.
  • Typically requires 7-10 years of related experience in mechanical engineering, engineering automation, product platforming, configurable product development, or engineering systems.
  • Advanced experience developing, deploying, and supporting complex mechanical automation platforms, configurators, workflows, or engineering systems.
  • Extensive proficiency with CAD software, configuration platforms, scripting or APIs, and engineering data management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, product structures, manufacturing methods, configuration management, design for manufacturability, and reusable product architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex automation or platforming initiatives involving multiple product families, disciplines, sites, or stakeholder groups.
  • Experience defining automation architecture, development standards, governance practices, validation methods, and reusable technical frameworks.
  • Ability to lead large technical projects with significant autonomy and manage scope, cost, resources, risk, priorities, and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and influence skills, with demonstrated experience leading technical reviews and mentoring engineers.
