About Comfrt

Comfrt is building an app for its existing e-commerce website, designed to provide a highly engaging and seamless experience for our customers. Our team is small, fast-moving, and AI-augmented — every member has an outsized impact on what we ship and how our users feel.

Role Overview

You will be the technical leader and backbone of Comfrt — our first engineering hire responsible for architecting, building, and scaling our cross-platform mobile app from the ground up. You will own the entire stack: the mobile client, backend APIs, database architecture, and cloud infrastructure. As a senior engineer, you will make foundational technical decisions that shape the product for years to come, mentor future engineering hires, and set the bar for code quality and engineering culture. With AI coding tools at your fingertips, you will move at the speed of a small team while maintaining the standards of a seasoned one.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and build the Comfrt mobile app using React Native, targeting both iOS and Android from a single codebase.
  • Design and implement backend services, RESTful/GraphQL APIs, and real-time features (order tracking updates).
  • Set up and manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Firebase) including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and auto-scaling.
  • Integrate third-party services such as e-commerce platform APIs (e.g., Shopify Storefront API), marketing automation, payment processors, and analytics platforms.
  • Leverage AI development tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor) to accelerate development cycles and code quality.
  • Collaborate closely with the UX/UI designer to translate designs into pixel-perfect, performant interfaces.
  • Implement robust data security practices, especially around sensitive customer payment and personal information.
  • Implement and maintain the data pipeline for feeding and synchronizing product information from the Shopify-powered e-commerce site into the mobile app.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 4+ years focused on mobile app development using React Native, Flutter, or native iOS/Android.
  • Proven track record of architecting and shipping full mobile products end to end — not just features — ideally as a technical lead or sole engineer at a startup.
  • Deep backend expertise: Node.js, Python, or Go with experience designing scalable APIs, microservices, and data pipelines for production workloads.
  • Strong command of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Firebase), infrastructure-as-code, and database design (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar) at scale.
  • Experience making architectural decisions with long-term implications: tech stack selection, system design, data modeling, and build/buy trade-offs.
  • Comfortable working with AI-assisted development workflows and a demonstrated ability to push the boundaries of what one developer can ship.
  • Understanding of app store submission processes, mobile performance optimization, and release management best practices.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills — you can translate technical trade-offs for non-technical teammates and set engineering standards for future hires.
  • Experience developing e-commerce based Apps, powered by the Shopify platform.

Nice to Have

  • Experience optimizing conversion funnels within a mobile e-commerce experience.
  • Familiarity with real-time features: WebSockets, push notification architecture, background sync.
  • Open-source contributions or a portfolio of shipped side projects.

Why Join Comfrt?

  • Be part of a purpose-driven company that’s shaping the future of direct-to-consumer e-commerce.
  • Work in a supportive, creative environment where your ideas and growth are valued.
  • Enjoy Comfrt benefits such as generous paid time off, company-covered health insurance, 5% 401k match, and discounts on all Comfrt products!
  • Join a passionate team making an impact on exciting projects, all while enjoying the flexibility and collaborative support of a fully remote environment.

Comfrt is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.
