Position Overview

MetroSys is seeking an experienced Senior Nutanix Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise infrastructure migration for one of our clients. This consultant will be responsible for hands-on implementation, configuration, migration, and optimization of Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) environments.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Nutanix AOS, AHV, Prism Central, and enterprise virtualization technologies, along with a proven background executing complex infrastructure migrations involving VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platforms.

This role will work closely with Nutanix Architects, infrastructure teams, and client stakeholders to execute migration activities, minimize downtime, resolve technical challenges, and ensure successful workload transitions into the Nutanix environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deploy, configure, administer, and optimize Nutanix HCI environments, including AOS, AHV, Prism Central, and Prism Element.

  • Execute large-scale workload and virtual machine migrations from existing virtualization environments into Nutanix AHV or other designated target platforms.

  • Utilize Nutanix Move and other migration tools to support workload discovery, migration planning, execution, and validation.

  • Configure and manage Nutanix clusters, storage pools, networking, virtual machines, and associated infrastructure components.

  • Perform pre-migration assessments, compatibility checks, dependency analysis, and infrastructure readiness validation.

  • Execute migration waves, including workload transitions, testing, cutovers, rollback procedures, and post-migration stabilization.

  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving virtualization, storage performance, network connectivity, replication, and application availability.

  • Implement and validate backup, disaster recovery, replication, and high-availability configurations.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure architects, application owners, network teams, and storage administrators to resolve migration dependencies.

  • Monitor cluster performance, capacity utilization, system health, and overall platform stability throughout the migration.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, migration runbooks, configuration standards, and operational procedures.

  • Provide post-migration support, performance tuning, issue resolution, and knowledge transfer to client IT teams.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of enterprise infrastructure engineering experience, including significant hands-on experience with Nutanix platforms.

  • Strong experience with Nutanix AOS, AHV, Prism Central, and Prism Element.

  • Demonstrated experience performing enterprise virtualization migrations involving VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or similar technologies.

  • Hands-on experience with Nutanix Move or comparable workload migration technologies.

  • Strong understanding of virtualization architecture, enterprise storage, networking, and HCI technologies.

  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Nutanix clusters in production environments.

  • Knowledge of backup, replication, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.

  • Experience supporting large-scale migration projects involving complex application dependencies and multiple infrastructure teams.

  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with technical teams during scheduled migration and cutover activities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) or Nutanix Certified Advanced Professional (NCAP).

  • Experience with large-scale VMware-to-Nutanix AHV migrations.

  • Experience with Nutanix Files, Objects, Flow, or automation technologies.

  • Familiarity with PowerShell, Python, or infrastructure automation tools.

  • Experience supporting multi-site or geographically distributed infrastructure environments.

  • Background working on enterprise infrastructure modernization or data center consolidation projects.
