The Opportunity:

Avantor’s Legal Department is seeking a Senior Paralegal to support the entire Legal Department (commercial, corporate, litigation, compliance, and employment law teams).

Reporting to the Vice President of Litigation and Legal Operations, this role offers a unique opportunity to join a growing legal team within a dynamic Fortune 500 public company and to work autonomously on cutting‑edge issues in a highly collegial and engaging environment.

What we’re looking for

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of recent experience working as a paralegal with in-house counsel or a law firm
    • Experience with eBilling/matter management platforms required
  • Collaboration Tool: Knowledge and facility with Microsoft Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access), as well as working knowledge in various online research databases
  • Preferred Qualifications: 
    • Experience with complex civil litigations and regulatory investigations
    • Specific knowledge of Legal Tracker and Exterro

How you will thrive and create an impact

  • Interact with in-house counsel, outside counsel, and other law firm professional and staff members in managing and responding to wide-ranging inquiries from multiple sources
  • Communicate with various internal business clients concerning matters, including finance, accounting, and various business associates
  • Maintain and update internal legal department databases and e-billing/matter management platform and assist in generating periodic reports for department and firm leadership
  • Provide support to in-house counsel and others in the handling of subpoenas, other forms of formal and informal governmental and/or regulatory based inquiries and requests for documents
  • Manage document preservation procedures through an electronic system
  • Conduct legal and factual research using various online platforms
  • Assist with special projects as needed

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

  • Strong writing, interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills, including building strong business partnerships and working within cross-functional teams
  • Ability to multitask and work under extreme time constraints as needed

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$107,500.00 - $173,075.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
