1. Role Summary

The Senior PR Consultant is a senior strategic advisor responsible for designing, leading, and optimising integrated communications and reputation strategies for PCL and its clients.

The role combines executive-level counsel, data-driven PR planning, stakeholder engagement, digital reputation management, and team leadership. The consultant owns major client portfolios, drives measurable outcomes, and ensures communications initiatives align with business policy, and brand objectives.

2. Reporting Line

Reports to: Managing Director
Supervises: PR Executives, Associates, Account Managers, and external vendors where assigned.

3. Core Responsibilities

A. Strategic Communications Leadership

  • Develop integrated PR and communications strategies aligned with organisational, client, and stakeholder priorities.

  • Provide executive advisory support to clients’ leadership teams on positioning, messaging, reputation risk, and public visibility.

  • Translate business and policy goals into measurable communications roadmaps.

  • Lead high-value client accounts as a strategic lead consultant.

B. Media, Influence & Public Positioning

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, analysts, and digital opinion leaders.

  • Secure strategic media exposure across traditional, digital, and broadcast platforms.

  • Oversee production of messaging assets, including press materials, statements, op-eds, executive speeches, briefs, and thought-leadership content.

  • Guide spokesperson preparation and media training.

C. Reputation, Risk & Crisis Advisory

  • Design proactive reputation management frameworks and monitoring systems.

  • Lead crisis communication planning, simulation, response, and recovery strategies.

  • Provide real-time advisory during sensitive public, regulatory, or reputational situations.

  • Track sentiment, perception trends, and stakeholder narratives.

D. Digital & Data-Driven PR

  • Integrate digital PR, social listening, analytics, SEO-driven content, and online reputation monitoring into campaigns.

  • Interpret analytics to refine messaging, targeting, and channel strategy.

  • Report campaign performance using measurable indicators and insights.

E. Team Leadership & Operational Delivery

  • Mentor and supervise junior consultants and project teams.

  • Ensure quality control across all client deliverables.

  • Manage campaign budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, research, design, policy, and business development teams.

4. Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related discipline.

  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in strategic communications, public relations, corporate affairs, or agency consulting.

  • Demonstrated experience advising senior executives or managing high-stakes accounts.

  • Proven track record delivering measurable PR outcomes.

  • Strong network within media, policy, and industry ecosystems.

  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and presentation skills.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree or professional certification (CIPR, PRSA, CIM, etc.).

  • Experience in multi-sector consulting (corporate, development, government, or international organisations).

  • Familiarity with analytics platforms, monitoring tools, and digital publishing systems.
