Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer with deep expertise in liquid processing systems within the food and beverage industry. This role will lead the design and execution of process systems for liquid products such as beverages, dairy, sauces, and other fluid-based consumables.

You’ll be responsible for managing the scope, schedule, and budget of your assigned systems or unit operations, while collaborating closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions.

This position can be based out of KC, St. Louis, or Dallas TX -with up to 50% travel. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of liquid processing systems for food and beverage manufacturing facilities.
  • Translate client requirements into process design scope and deliverables.
  • Manage and coordinate with internal teams, clients, vendors, and construction partners.
  • Oversee technical deliverables such as P&IDs, mass and energy balances, equipment specifications, and process narratives.
  • Support and lead activities such as:
    • Vendor package management and technical bid evaluations
    • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
    • Risk assessments (HAZOP, HACCP)
    • 3D model reviews and coordination
    • Commissioning and startup support
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering (ABET-accredited)
  • 5+ years of experience in process engineering for liquid food or beverage systems, specifically in confectionary, pet food, fermentation, dairy, dressings and sauces.
  • Strong understanding of sanitary design, CIP systems, and fluid handling equipment
  • Excellent communication and project coordination skills
  • Familiarity with industry codes and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, USDA, 3-A)

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE or EIT certification
  • Experience with construction support (RFIs, submittals, punch lists)
  • Hands-on experience with commissioning and troubleshooting liquid process systems
  • Knowledge of automation and control systems for liquid processes
