THE OPPORTUNITY

Unknown Worlds is seeking an experienced senior producer to work on the Subnautica franchise. Our ideal candidate is a collaborator, facilitator, and force-multiplier. They are highly emotionally intelligent, organized, and passionate about making games. They are experienced in partner management, project planning and risk mitigation, and empowering teams to do their best work.

This is a remote position on a fully remote team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead end-to-end production for one or more game projects, features, or development teams.
  • Partner with creative, technical and production leadership to translate the game's vision into actionable development plans.
  • Establish, contribute to and maintain project roadmaps, milestones, schedules, dependencies, and priorities. Review and approve milestones for externally developed projects.
  • Coordinate work across multiple disciplines and ensure teams have the information and resources they need.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, bottlenecks, and resource constraints before they impact delivery or release dates.
  • Provide leadership with clear, concise verbal and written reporting on team and feature progress, risks, and key decisions.
  • Identify and vet co-development partners for specific project engagements. 
  • Manage key relationships on the project, including development partners and publishers.
  • Coach and mentor. The producer works with individuals to establish expectations, build on areas of strength, and address necessary improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of professional game development experience, with significant experience in a production or project management capacity on internal game teams and/or overseeing external work-for-hire or co-dev partners.
  • Experience shipping at least 3+ PC or Console games in a senior production or leadership role, including at least one full game dev lifecycle from start, through launch, to live support.
  • Experience identifying and vetting external partners and working with those partners in a project oversight capacity including:
    • Milestone setting and review
    • Risk tracking
    • Working with internal legal and biz dev on contract setup and statement of work
  • Deep understanding of project management methodologies and game development process
  • Excellent situational awareness and judgment.  The ability to demonstrate both qualities in high pressure situations
  • Strong desire to coach and grow individual contributors and teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication. Strong relationship skills; the ability to manage up and down, internally and with external partners
  • Ability to lead and empower teams towards a set of shared and agreed upon goals
PREFERENCES:
  • Experience with multi platform development, including consoles, mobile and VR
  • Experience with Early Access, multiplayer, live service, cross-platform games
  • Experience owning production for an entire game or major game feature
  • Familiarity and experience with console certification and platform requirements for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and PC (Steam and Epic)
  • Experience working on Licensed products
