Kickstarter is seeking an experienced Senior Product Designer, Mobile to lead the re-imagination and evolution of our mobile apps. You will own the full design lifecycle for our iOS and Android platforms, working with cross-functional partners to deliver seamless experiences for our global community. Ideal candidates bring a background in designing consumer-facing mobile products with international checkout experiences, with an eye toward engagement and retention,, especially those including storytelling, user-generated content, search and discovery, video, and payments.

The salary for this role in the United States is $158,393 USD. For candidates based in the United Kingdom, compensation will be set at the local 60th percentile, benchmarked to market data and adjusted for location.

In this role, you will

  • Define interaction and visual design standards for our mobile products.
  • Design user-centric experiences that balance user needs and business goals, can scale, and translate globally.
  • Own and evolve our mobile design system.
  • Provide an international design perspective within our product org.
  • Actively partner with our research team to conduct and analyze user research.
  • Work with teams across Kickstarter as the company works toward building a mature ecosystem that serves our community of Creators and Backers.
  • Collaborate with partners on cross-functional teams to ensure alignment where appropriate.

About You

  • You have solid professional experience leading design for mobile apps across iOS and Android platforms. 
  • Your portfolio shows a proven track record of designing thoughtful, engaging, and highly usable mobile experiences.
  • You are knowledgeable of platform-specific design patterns and conventions across iOS and Android.
  • You have experience designing experiences for consumers in North America, Europe, and Asia.
  • You have experience designing with international privacy laws and regulations in mind.
  • Experience designing for commerce based companies with international checkout experiences
  • You are an excellent communicator.
  • You have the ability to consistently frame, explain and support your design decisions with peers and stakeholders, as well as deeply understand their feedback.
  • You have strengths in information architecture, interaction design, and visual design.
  • You are comfortable using both formal and informal methods to gather and give feedback.
  • You have experience with design programs like Figma, and are comfortable prototyping.
  • You empathize with our Creator and Backer communities and recognize how both contribute to Kickstarter’s ecosystem.
  • You recognize the challenges of the creative process and bringing projects to life.
