We’re looking for a driven, detail-oriented, and highly focused Senior Product Designer to help shape the vision and design of the Yahoo Lightyear CMS. In this role, you’ll push our CMS forward with innovative, scalable design solutions, crafting a best-in-class experience that enables Yahoo’s content creators to work intuitively, efficiently, and with delight.

You’ll collaborate closely with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, and Content Strategists to craft tools that embody clarity, precision, and Yahoo’s commitment to design excellence.

We’re especially interested in designers who embrace AI as a creative collaborator and leverage emerging technologies for ideation, prototyping, insight generation, or workflow optimization.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end design for core features and workflows.

  • Craft modular, scalable systems that stay consistent across the product.

  • Champion focused, minimalist solutions that elevate clarity and usability.

  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, research, and brand teams to translate ideas into polished, well-crafted experiences.

  • Prototype at high fidelity to explore concepts, validate hypotheses, and communicate design intent effectively.

  • Contribute to design direction on strategically important initiatives, partnering with senior designers and design leadership.

  • Collaborate with researchers to gather insights, synthesize findings, and refine approaches based on evidence and feedback.

  • Present design work with clarity and confidence, grounding decisions in user needs and business priorities.

  • Guide feedback conversations and incorporate input in ways that strengthen the work while preserving design intent.
     

Who You Are:
  • A master of design craft, with deep expertise in layout, typography, color, and design systems..
  • Experienced in designing complex products and tools.

  • A clear, confident communicator who can present, discuss, and evolve design work across teams.

  • Effective in cross-functional collaboration, with the ability to influence through craft and clarity.

  • Curious about emerging tools and technologies, particularly AI’s role in design workflows.

  • Proficient in modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Framer, Claude Code, V0, and Cursor.
     

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Visual Communication, HCI, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience designing digital products, with a strong emphasis on visual design.
    A track record of launching complex products and tools, with experience in advertising marketplaces as a significant plus

  • A portfolio showcasing refined, high-quality design across both product and marketing experiences.

  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and the ability to balance brand with usability.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting to executive stakeholders.

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $266,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
