We are passionate about empowering legal and risk professionals with data-driven insights.

Position Summary

UniCourt provides litigation centric products that enable attorneys and legal professionals to research past cases or generate analytics for parties involved in litigation. Our platform transforms complex data and workflows into simple, elegant experiences that empower users to focus on their expertise, not the tools they use.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer who thrives on turning intricate, data-rich concepts into intuitive and delightful user experiences. You’ll play a key role in shaping how users interact with advanced legal data, ensuring that sophistication feels effortless.

What You’ll Do:

  • Drive design from concept to execution — translating abstract product requirements and user needs into clear, compelling design ideas and prototypes.

  • Simplify complexity: Create designs that make interacting with dense, structured data feel natural and frictionless for legal professionals.

  • Collaborate deeply with Product Management, Engineering, and Data teams to understand business goals, data architecture, and user context — then translate that understanding into intuitive UI flows and visual patterns.

  • Invent and explore new design concepts that push the boundaries of how attorneys and legal professionals research, analyze, and manage legal information.

  • Prototype and test ideas rapidly to validate hypotheses and gather insights from users and internal stakeholders.

  • Maintain and evolve our design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and alignment with our evolving product suite.

  • Conduct user research and usability testing with attorneys, paralegals, and other legal professionals to inform product direction and improve usability.

  • Champion the voice of the user, balancing design creativity with pragmatic understanding of legal workflows and cognitive load.

  • Contribute to brand identity and product storytelling, ensuring that our visual language reinforces clarity, trust, and sophistication.

What You Bring:

  • Minimum 7 years of design experience, ideally within data-rich or workflow-heavy SaaS products being used by legal professionals.

  • A portfolio showcasing product designs that make advanced data research capabilities simple and approachable for non-technical users.

  • Solid experience with the entire product design process, from research and problem discovery through to detailed interaction and visual design

  • Expertise with Figma, Miro and prototyping tools; experience with design systems and responsive web applications.

  • Deep empathy for legal professional users (e.g., attorneys, analysts, or similar domains requiring precision and trust).

  • Experience building AI or ML-based product workflows.

  • Strong skills in concept generation — you’re not just refining ideas, you’re creating them.

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, able to articulate design rationale to technical and non-technical audiences alike.

  • Experience collaborating closely with product and engineering teams to ensure design intent carries through to implementation.

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices for data visualization and interaction.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field preferred.
