Senior Product Manager – Patient Health Information

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our Health Information team within our Patient Experience division. Key responsibilities include: understanding the market and customer, driving to a product vision, developing business cases, ensuring a product or set of product features meets business and regulatory requirements, and driving the creation of product roadmaps and delivery of the product. This position will work daily within scrum teams defining feature requirements, prioritizing product backlogs, and making trade off decisions between scope and schedule.

 
The Team:
The Health Information & Payments Zone is responsible for empowering patients in the evolving healthcare ecosystem by helping them access and understand their health information, manage their personal information, and understand and manage their financial responsibilities. We deliver solutions through athena’s award-winning web-based Patient Portal and native mobile app, as well as standalone patient-facing financial workflows. We are a passionate team of product, engineering, UX, and analytics professionals driven to create consumer-grade, accessible, and best-in-class experiences for patients of our client practices.

This position is based in Austin, TX.

The Opportunity:
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Product Manager to help guide product discovery, development, and delivery in a nimble, AI-assisted fashion.

You are passionate about using AI tools to help you work smarter and faster to achieve your and the team’s goals.

You are someone who demonstrates extensive experience with product and software design, development, and deployment; including ensuring the team has a right mix of skills and leveraging the strengths of the individual team members as well as AI. Ideally you have experience in healthcare IT and have worked to ensure adherence to the regulatory environment that surrounds healthcare.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Drive ongoing backlog allocations and prioritization of patient jobs to be done to solve within area of responsibility   

  • Create and update a feature roadmap for your area of responsibility that drives toward business and experiential outcomes

  • Collaborate with UX and Engineering leads using an AI-assisted model to rapidly iterate on business and user requirements to deliver a working solution prototype that engineering can then productize for release

  • Understand the market opportunity via user needs, market forces, and applicable business models; with regards to what would best serve our patients and clients today as well as in the future   

  • Identify and track metrics and success criteria to create transparency and visibility to program success and opportunities for improvement; requesting analyses to inform backlog   

  • Partner with Product Management leaders to be the voice of product decisions within the organization   

  • Serve as Product Owner for scrum team(s) covering assigned product area, partnering with UX and Engineering to plan work and ensure project execution tracks to that plan

  • Partner with Product Management leaders to drive portfolio and product strategy  

  • Engage with Sales, Product Marketing, and other internal partner teams as needed to determine best ways to communicate product to customers; and to assist Product Management leadership with service descriptions   

  • Contribute to the development of overall product management team by lending your knowledge and experience to teach others what you know  

 

Typical Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required

  • 7+ years overall professional experience, inclusive of a minimum of 4 years of product management experience 

  • Understanding of product management best practices, especially AI-assisted methodologies

  • Understanding of healthcare / health IT environment a plus, including working within a tightly regulated problem space 

  • Demonstrated success at driving vision and prioritization of products in a dynamic environment

  • Ability to explain your positioning to various people around the company in an effective way 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially with senior leaders and customers 

$134,000 - $228,000


Expected Compensation

The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates.  Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
