Senior Product (UX/UI) Designer

Location: Richardson, TX (Onsite and Local Candidates ONLY)

Department: Product Design, Controls

Reports To: Head of Product Design

Position Type: Contract-to-Hire

Hourly Rate: $60.00 – $70.00/hr (Commensurate with experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Product Designer who thrives on creating seamless, intuitive experiences that bridge mobile applications and hardware products. In this role, you will lead design initiatives that shape how users interact with our ecosystem—delivering solutions that are not only functional but delightful. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and marketing teams to craft experiences that feel effortless and elevate the brand.

About the Controls Department

The Controls department is responsible for designing and delivering innovative control systems and user experiences that integrate hardware and software for next-generation products. Our team works at the intersection of technology and design, creating solutions that are intuitive, reliable, and forward-thinking.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Design: Lead UX/UI design for B2B and B2C mobile and hardware-integrated products, ensuring intuitive navigation and responsive design.
  • User Strategy: Understand the user by consuming research insights, designing journey maps, and contributing to long-term experience strategy.
  • Prototyping & High-Fidelity Design: Design wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity interfaces that communicate intent clearly across teams.
  • Design System Ownership: Maintain and evolve the design system to ensure visual and functional consistency across all products.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product management, engineering, and marketing to ensure designs are desirable, feasible, and viable.
  • Design Advocacy: Advocate for accessibility, usability, and consistency across all touchpoints while staying ahead of emerging trends in mobile UX, hardware interaction, and cross-platform design.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design with a portfolio showcasing mobile app and hardware-integrated experiences.
  • Demonstrated experience designing for cross-platform native applications (Android and iOS).

Skills & Core Competencies

  • Deep user empathy and a strong sense of curiosity.
  • Expertise in design and prototyping tools, specifically Figma and Figma-based design systems.
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, accessibility, and responsive design.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing for IoT devices, wearables, or hardware ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with gesture-based interactions, haptics, and mobile performance constraints.
